This is the best one and it's not even close.

I'm about halfway through this so far. I was almost shocked when I saw that treasure screen and realized how many levels there were with how much larger they feel than the first's.
I'm also seething over how many treasures I've missed so far. My Gamer Sense was sharp in the last one, but this one has me batting like 60/40 right now.

if it had an health bar and/or lives yes.
I don't like baby games. The only good thing about this game is Syrup. And that's about it.

Yeah no
Gonna have to ask you to leave the thread now

There are no lives but the bosses when they hit you boot you out of the arena and you have to do them again, you pretty much have to do the bosses hitless

Oh so you mean not like Wario Land 1 & Wario Land 4 that are much better? sit down, faggot.

My personal Wario holy trinity will always be the Virtual Boy game, WL4, and World.

Also, the ones where you can't be killed are incredibly lame and boring.

Is Wario land VB that good? I just finished wario land 1 and was conflicted about whether doing that one next or just moving on to the GBC ones. Is the 3d effect worth it or should I just play it in 2d?

Wario World is very weird. It looks like such a bland game and when you play it the gameplay feels kinda boring too but you still can't stop playing and have the urge to 100% it

>> No.9676632

>>9676606
Not him but Wario Land VB is just a really solid and polished entry with more focus on action and linear platforming (similar to WL1) than some of the later games in the series. Just play in 2D in Beetle VB.

I haven't completed WL3 and WL4 yet, but I would rank them VB > 1 >>>>>>> 2

>> No.9676649

>>9676067
I like how the levels are straightforward, unlike WL 3 you don't need to come back again and again to finish them.
I will put it above WL 3 just for that... and also the fact you have the full moveset from the start.

OK thx anon, I'll move on to VB. I really enjoyed WL1's gameplay so this is good news, just couldnt help but think most treasures were too easy, hopefully they're a bit more challenging

>> No.9677243

>every secret passage is unrewarding since it just nets you more coins
>every treasure you find is locked behind a terrible minigame
>level design kinda starts blending together due to being a bit samey
It's great but I prefer the other Wario Lands.

>>9676080
You clearly have not played Wario Land 2/3, a common criticism of these games is due to how punishing they can be because of the no health.

>>9676664
if you need it, here's a tutorial to emulate it if you use mednafen:

I 100%'d Wario World in a single sitting the day I got it when I was like 12. It's one of the shortest, most pathetically easy games ever made.

I clearly did faggot, all they do is that boring, put you back in whatever point and do it all over again and instead, went for those long boring "where the fuck do i go" levels.

I admire 3's ambition, but its take on non-linear progression isn't really as good as it wishes it was. It's an entire game of "oh, I can't interact with that thing YET but someday..." which can be a bit annoying when you might not realize you're chasing the wrong objective for a little bit. Beyond that, the biggest issue is Wario's "upgrades" are all stuff he could do by default in the previous two games so it's less "upgrades" and more "you're just bringing him back to normal" and it feels less rewarding.

Back in the day me and a buddy traded a couple games for a few days
I gave him Dragon Warrior Monsters and he gave me Wario Land 2
It took me some time but I 100%'d the game and loved every minute of it.
We never traded back.

I just beat the game for the first time this morning. I went in not sure if I was going to bother with the true ending, but it was good enough I played the whole thing

Yes, but I started playing WL3 for the first time only recently and it might be ok, need to give it more time. But it's most likely decades since I beat WL2 so I don't remember it too well for comparison purposes. I have beaten WL4 and played a little bit of WL1 so that's what I'm going on.

The only thing I can say is that your knowledge on Treasure's catalogue is commendable. Not a lot of people know that Wario World was made by them. Also not trying to offend you or anything but you really need to see a psychiatrist

I like all of Treasure's games except Wario World, though. It is the only uniquely bad game in their catalog, imo. I was shocked to find out they made it, considering how good the rest of their games are.

>> No.9680209

>>9677280
The point is that WL2/WL3 is much harder than the rest of the Wario Lands. Having no health bar did not make those games easier in the slightest, and some design choices they made to punish the player actually made it harder and less forgiving.

>>9677406
>It's an entire game of "oh, I can't interact with that thing YET but someday..."
I mean, this is the entirety of Metroid's design philosophy, which the game was clearly striving for.

>you're just bringing him back to normal
I slightly disagree with this, though I am just being nitpicky about it and understand what you mean and where you're coming from. It's just that I've always felt that, by the time you can fight the final boss, 3!Wario can bust blocks, swim through hard currents, and toss enemies in ways that 1 and 2 Wario can't. Kinda want to say that he's maybe the strongest of 2D Warios, even.

Go ahead and make the walk back to Syrup’s boss fight 20 times like I am right now and tell me how much easier it is than if you saw a number tick down by one. >>9676207

Based OP. I've always thought 2 was the best and was shocked to hear people considered 3 the best.

2 > 4 > 3 > 1. That's not to say 1 is a bad game, 1 is great. They're all great games.

I'm a sucker for good secret hunting so this is one of my favorite games of all time. Probably the first game I ever felt compelled to 100%.

>>9676075
I used to be able to beat the treasure minigame on hard every time, now I'm a sad old man who has to save up my coins to play on easy.
