Acclaim published the game because they had the licensing rights to Rambo but Nintendo developed the original game. To get around Acclaim they retooled the game and turned it into Zelda 2 so they coukd rake in all of the profits for themselves. Not the first time they did so see Super Mario bros. 2 and Doki Doki Panic.
