The videogame equivalent of watching paint dry. How did they fuck it up so bad?

>> No.8682671

what do you find boring about it?

Its a controversial one to be sure. I thought transformation mechanics and 'zapped back instead of die' punishments were actually pretty innovative.

This game is awesome, it's the best WL game.

This, the game was great OP was one of my most played and even only GBC games outside of Pokemon.

I agree, the game doesn't punish you for failing but instead it annoys you, the fact that you don't die and that it has maze like levels makes the game boring as fuck, same for WL3 and WL4, at least 4 has some kick ass graphics and a life bar but still kinda of sucks level wise.

It frequently sets you back a fair bit for failing at something actually, like a more freestyle variant of dying and having to start again from farther back. It's the same penalty effectively, you just never stop playing, which is pretty deserving of some design credit.

So you were:

>born after 9/11
>subscribe to ''''''game design'''''' ytbers

Because I can assure you that by simply saying WL4 levels "suck" is a tacit admission to all of the above

That last stage is something fucking else, it has some almost Kaizo level challenge.

The levels are full of secrets and obstacle courses, you start with all your abilities, unobstructed by powerup systems, progression or anything of the sort (you can get the "Get your Castle back!" ending right off the bat), and you get the most unstoppable version of Wario ever, if not the fastest/best controlling, which is VB's, but it's almost as fast and definitely stronger. It's a weird experimental game but I think it mostly paid off. Top tier Wario, belongs with Virtual and 4.

Virtual Wario Boy felt very polished but a bit soulless, too easy, and the boss fights sucked. Also very short game.

What the fuck is a souless. That game is a labor of love. Every level is utterly distinct in concept, look and setting, and the music has got that roguish Ishikawa flair but with Totaka's quirks, incredibly "Wario". Game has jaw-dropping pixelart, Wario controls like a fucking dream and I for one thought the action was excellent, bosses included, third and fourth one are very good implementations of 2-plane flipping, as much as the final boss always makes me rage. I'd call the game replayable rather than just short, it even incentivizes sppedrunning with that "bunny girl" ending and the run button.

Basically I disagree with everything except for the game being easy which honestly all Warios are and that's fine, have a nice day.

Definitely not, that's 1 or SML2, but it's good for sure.
