Alrighty. So basically I am conflicted on getting all of this because I for one: know nothing about the Gameboy advance or anything. I'm just here to ask if it's worth getting

>> No.8554868

Why don't you sample the best hits on an emulator before you decide to drop money on something you might not even like?

>> No.8554870

Don't bother paying such high prices for GBA reproduction carts. They're like $5 each on AliExpress. They'll take longer to deliver but whatever. Or just get a flashcart.

Also, I don't believe Mother 2 for GBA was ever translated. Take that into consideration.

Buy a gba from Japan, original models can be had for $5-10 in decent shape and SPs sit around 30.
Even after shipping you’ll still be spending way less. Better still if you buy and ship a bunch of stuff at once to cut in shipping costs

>> No.8554889

Yea the GBA is worth getting and Mother/Earthbound is defiantly worth playing, but this is the most consumerist shit I’ve seen. Why the fuck are you buying it from Amazon?

>> No.8554890

What the hell is the point of repro carts? It doesn't have the collectability or inherent coolness of original hardware, but if you don't car about original hardware, why not just emulate it for free?
It's like paying for a printed picture of a valuable baseball card or stamp.

That’s a lie, show me what Japanese sites have GBAs for $5. Japanese junk gameboys have gone up a lot in price because of all the losers out there buying bulk lots to mod them. Maybe this was true 2 years ago.

A GBA at that price? Hell no. You're better off finding a GBA in as shit condition (but working) as possible, then swapping the shell out and mod it with a backlight kit (ITA is usually the go-to). Bonus points if you find a 40-pin model.
I paid $50 for a scratched up GBA, but it came with Tetris GB and Super Mario Advance. There's a seller listing pre-trimmed GBA shells fitted for ITA kits soon, so I'll be picking one of those up.

Don't do this. I used to sell these back in college to make a quick buck. If you bought enough of them you could get them for $2 a piece. Mother 3 always sold the quickest so I'd buy big batches of them and sell them on Ebay for anywhere from $20-30 depending on what others were selling for in that week. Buy it on Aliexpress and wait a month to get it, you're basically paying $25 for faster shipping.
