yes they're both great but I prefer 2 by a large margin, not a huge fan of the episodes though
I think it was because I played hl1 as my first fps on PC, I learned to use WASD + mouse in that game and I always associate it with being extremely difficult

I enjoyed the first game back in the day and finally finished it about ten years ago. The second tends to bore me after a bit. Had much more fun with Portal. No FPS will ever beat Doom for me. Quake is fun. Doom I can probably play with mods forever.
