So, a friend of mine had this in his basement, mixed in with a bunch of junk. He said that he lost the receiver for it years ago, and has no idea where it is. And just gave me the gamepad for free. I have never owned a Nintendo GameCube or Wii (with GameCube ports). I had to look up the wavebird, and it sadly doesn't connect via bluetooth. So it seems like I can't use it as a PC gamepad. Looking up receivers, they seem expansive. What can I do with this? Sell it on Ebay as a loose gamepad?

Is that even a genuine Wavebird? How come it doesn't say Nintendo GameCube on the top?

Yes, it looks genuine. It does have the Nintendo GameCube logo at the top. It is kind of a bad photo and doesn't show up well. But it is there.

That's because it uses radio frequencies to talk to the receiver. You can mod it for cable use without taking away its wireless capabilities, you know.

You could get $30 for it now. If you wait awhile it might be $100

you can probably sell it for $30-50 and people will buy
I honestly never got the appeal of thing, it's even jankier to hold comfortably and it's in soulless silver, not indigo

>I honestly never got the appeal of thing

back in the day a first party quality wireless controller that actually worked perfectly was like the holy grail of controllers, I want to say it was practically the first of its kind, third party wireless controllers were always total trash in my experience.

I mean considering CRT sizes being around 30' at most for any sets people were likely to have wouldn't sitting further away be a bit pointless? seems to make the point of wireless controllers be moot

OP here, and I am close to 40.

I was thinking about doing that. Cool looking gamepad, and could be refurbished/ cleaned up a little. But again, useless to me as it really does require a receiver. Not sure if I want to risk modding it with a USB cable.

I had an extension cable for my ps1 controller and this is how I played through anything back then.
I’m sure that has something to do my my dogshit eyes today.

There could be any number of things wrong with a pad that have nothing to do with the cable. Some irreparable. Shut your stupid cock hole until you know what you're talking about. The mod is cheaper than sourcing new parts, and it's cheaper than buying a new pad. And if you own a Wavebird, then it's a dead cert that you already own at least two pads in great working order. You're dumb. Stop posting here.
