Phantasy Star IV is one of the greatest JRPGs ever, and certainly the best 16-bit JRPG. And it's not particularly long or difficult, it's just a goddamn great game. It requires very minimal to no grinding.

Honestly, if you don't have time for PS4, you shouldn't even consider yourself as being into retro games. It's an absolute must play.

You don't want to fast forward Phantasy Star IV. The game is great when you take your time adventuring in its world. I remember playing it during the summer with a GameFAQs printed guide and it was great to explore it slowly and see how much content it had for a 16bit RPG. And I say this as someone who started off from Final Fantasy VII.
