Peak WarioWare

>> No.7926298

>>7925995
WarioWare hasn't peaked yet.

WarioWare: Get It Together! is an upcoming minigame compilation co-developed by Nintendo EPD and Intelligent Systems for the Nintendo Switch.

>> No.7926339

>>7925995
Wrong. Peak Warioware can only be a Warioware that I've played. I don't recognize the cover of this one and the title is in Japanese, ergo I've probably not played it, ergo it is not peak Warioware.

This argument is irrefutable, so you might as well give up and /thread

Ok, but the only good warioware is on gamecube disc, and they doesn't look like a disk. Also, why is it covered in inferior moon runes.

>> No.7926403

The best WarioWares are:

- WarioWare Inc.
- WarioWare Twisted
- WarioWare Touched!

And Nintendo probably should have stopped there, because they are making (and milking) a franchise of a very unique concept that lost the charm long time ago.

I find it interesting that Warioware Twisted gyro emulation will never really work, considering the screen was meant to rotate so it always faced upward from your perspective.

it will probably be alright. But for me the whole appeal of the series is how abstract each minigame is. Putting the same characters in the context of all games removes a layer of abstraction.

OP is right, Twisted is the best one. Best collection of minigames, best bosses, best side-games/toys. There's never been a bad one though.

pretty much this
the early 2000's was that amazing era where the same people who worked on NES games were working on stuff like wario ware, and it really shows.
Smooth moves is also pretty good, it still has the spirit of the older games.
I just wish nintendo could understand what they did right with the first few games

>> No.7926841

I really love wario ware gold on 3ds. I know it's not retro, but it feels like the definitive warioware to me. The way you have switch between different control methods per mini game is really fun. I love the extra play modes as well.

I think they did it pretty well with gold. they still use thick outlines like they did in the old games and the choppy animation helps recapture some of the charm. Smooth moves cutscenes look like they were done in flash, and get it together similarly looks off.

The games lose a lot of the original charm when being released on home consoles. They were very well suited for portable devices, and the low resolution and low-fi music made the games more comfy and spontaneous.

They're talking about the tilt sensors in cartridges, not the backlighting. Mercury switches were typically used in higher voltage applications, not low milliamp applications like a 3.7V game system. On occasion you can find a vintage space heater with a mercury switch which toggles the power if it's knocked over as to not start a fire. All fluorescent tubes have trace mercury IIRC.

Nah, it's great. Low-fi portables suit the WarioWare universe the best, and the touch screen was a fun gimmick.

>> No.7931895

Twisted was indeed the best game by a mile but WarioWare Gold is a fucking fantastic experience. Having many of the varied gameplay methods in one title is fantastic plus it's a Best Hits so you lose some of the crummier microgames.

The original WarioWare is all right, it shows tons of signs of being the first try but for a proof of concept game it's amazing either way. Touched was made by a rookie team while the main devs did Twisted and while it lacks content the control method is good enough to make it great. Smooth Moves is a mixed bag but a largely enjoyable one, the multiplayer is really fun but I wish more of the microgames were available as it gets stale quickly.

Game & Wario was ok.

DIY is a fucking dumpster fire and I hate it. I didn't even pay for it and I still regretted trying it out.

I thought it was fine for what it was. Had a lot of fun with the comic and music maker especially. The game maker was very basic but still fun to tinker with.

I grew up with the game and don't really feel this way. I preferred the original back then because the gimmick of titling the GBA left and right is more samey than the other wario gimmicks (touch and wiimote). I feel that gold is perfect simply because the 3ds hardware allowed them to implement all the gimmicks they experimented with in the past, and switching between them adds to the fun.

It was an extremely unique mechanic at the time and they used it in tons of fun ways, it has the most original microgames of any mainline WarioWare and lacks the padding the original did where you'd constantly be running into generic Wario microgames. At the time I would've killed for a full version of 9-Volt's boss stage and that's just SMB1 but with a twist. Plus it has a metric assload of souvenirs which make for a ton of extra content. The bonuses in the other games are generally not that great.

Their one mistake was not properly integrating the full controls available to them, but at the same time I also understand why they limited themselves to just the A button.
