Ninja Gaiden is embarrassingly outdated when you consider that Revenge of Shinobi came out less than a year later.

Both are great and still worth playing. Ninja Gaiden is more frustrating though.

Pro tip: They removed and reskinned the bosses and baddies in revisions after the original because they were homages to other corps IP such as Godzilla and Batman.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think III is better than Revenge.

I don't see that opinion too often. Revenge is the more popular game.
An unpopular opinion would be saying Shadow Dancer is the best Shinobi game, which it is

Shadow Dancer Genesis is really fun. Returns to the arcade difficulty with one-hit deaths. I also enjoy the arcade version.

Still Revenge is my favorite of the console Shinobis.

Shadow Dancer sucks. 1 hit kills games are cheap.

I enjoyed it a bunch as well. Only downside for me is the bosses suck compared to the other two Shinobi's.

>Still Revenge is my favorite of the console Shinobis.
I get really torn between RoS and 3 but usually gravitate towards RoS being the overall better game.

Still it's pretty easy even on hard. You can move forward slow and methodical for like 80% of the game. And the dog was badass.

arcade shinobi 1 is the greatest

The music in Revenge hits me hard. The only othet soundtrack that does that is Streets Of Rage 1

6-Pak was such a great pack-in cart

Streets of Rage and Golden Axe sucked, and the first Sonic was the weakest one.

The game isn't even remotely fair. I'll go play a real game like Shinobi III while you play your death simulator.

>> No.7878670

Has some of the dumbest-sounding sound design I've ever heard in a video game.

Ninja Gaiden does, yes.

They are both awesome. Ninja Gaiden undoubtedly has the better soundtrack. Revenge's gameplay gives you more control over movement and arguably more abilities, but doesn't play nearly as fast or offer near the challenge of NG. Of course the stage graphics are better on the superior hardware, but NG somewhat makes up for this difference with its style. Other than that, by your own admission NG came out a year earlier and thus deserves some slack, especially since it came out on less powerful hardware. Hence Revenge of Shinobi can be argued to be superior to Ninja Gaiden, but the contest is close. One game doesn't "pwn" the other.

P.S. Be honest. Have you beaten Ninja Gaiden without savestates?

>>7879709
No, and I have no intentions on doing so.

>> No.7879728

>>7879709
Also, Ninja Gaiden's soundtrack is better? Are you trolling? I can't remember one track from that game but can remember so many from Revenge. Run or Die, Sunrise Blvd, The Shinobi, My Lover, and Over The Bay.

>> No.7879734

You have not beaten both of the games you are comparing, implying you do not have a full picture of what you are talking about. Shitty non-opinion disregarded. Do your homework, fool.

>> No.7879740

>>7879728
This is a contrarian take, not to mention if you are OP you haven't beaten Ninja Gaiden and thus do not have a fair basis of comparison. Revenge had a couple decent tracks, while Ninja Gaiden had one of the best soundtracks of its era - see "Unbreakable Determination" for example. Someone else that has beaten both games back me up here.

Turning off shurikens makes it really easy for me. Those ninjas who block all your projectiles can't take melee attacks. The only real hard fight of the game becomes the final boss due to being forced to use your shurikens during it and trying to fight off a horde of those ninjas.

Yes, I am OP. I really don't get the hype for "Unbreakable Determination". Very boring track. The only good track in that game was Depth of Wickedness.
