Shinobi III and Strider 1 & 2 beat out all of the old Ninja Gaiden games. Ninja Gaiden was never fair and will never be fair. It has a little something I like to call fake difficulty.

It's ok to admit when you have been filtered.

I prefer the ridiculous difficulty of Ninja Gaiden.

Yes, Shinobi III is probably the best home console ninja game of the 90s.
But the Strider games are kinda shit in that characteristic arcade jank way, it was popular for it's graphics, huge sprites and cool look at the time it came out in the arcades, but the gameplay is nothing special which very obvious in hindsight.

Change Strider out for Shadow of the Ninja or something and Ninja Gaiden 2 is actually a better game and more fun to play than the first but less "iconic" (Japanese version of Ninja Gaiden 3 is the best game over all).

The thing with NG is that once you "git gud" and memorize a stage you feel like a badass ninja flying thru cutting up mofo's left and right. Very satisfying feeling. But yeah overall Shinobi > Ninja Gaiden.

Strider is unique because 1) the terrain was uneven and you could climb and somersault everywhere, once you got a feel of the level layout it was like a 2d Mirror's Edge. And 2) the soundtrack was creepy sci-fi, basically all ninja action games of the time was generic urban pop

Not as good as Shinobi 3 and the Strider games, but you should definitely try Shadow of the Ninja/Blue Shadow.
It's Ninja Gaiden done the right way.

This but I still prefer Ninja Gaiden.

>Invite some friends
>We play some Contra
>Everyone is too drunk to play much more
>Pop in Ninja Gaiden
>Sit down and just grind that motherfucker to death
>Everyone is helping me out
>Beat the game
>Everyone cheers
Still the best moment Ive ever had playing any game ever, especially when my friends started getting into Ninja Gaiden because of it.

>fake difficulty
gotta be a NG fan false flagging with this crybaby nonsense. arcade Strider is no joke anyhow.

Shinobi on master system is harder than any NG game.

The only time Ninja Gaiden came close to Shinobi's greatness was when Sega made one.

You are playing it wrong. The game rewards intelligence and methodical approach. As opposed to the watered down pseudo shinobi game OP listed up there,
