It's rarely so clear-cut. Sonic games, for example, were usually the worst on Xbox. GC had the best releases there, except in the case of the expanded collection disks that PS2 got (mega collection plus for example). Just this one franchise demonstrates the inconsistent nature by which different releases would perform. You have to take it on a case-by-case basis.

san andreas in ps2 had more aggressive post effects, heat haze, color grading that gave it a strong orange look, proper car reflections/filth states, etc and ran at a consistent framerate. Xbox version looks more like the PC version, sterile and more modern - although the PC version is missing more visual elements. Notably flying through clouds on the Xbox causes the framerate to tank but not on the PS2 version.

Dreamcast DoA 2 is beautiful as well

>> No.7768924

Burnout 3 is an interesting scenario.

On the PS2 it had far better spark and motion blur effects than Xbox. It also had better blooming and specular light reflections. It also had a far better particle system too. IMO, not even a contest.

However, the Xbox version had better reflection mapping on the cars themselves and did have slightly better textures, which is probably why it had slightly better reflections. There were also better far off textures too, so this made a difference at high speeds.

Reviewers will claim the Xbox version used Antialiasing, but this isn't true. Xbox rarely used it for any game, it simply had better texture handling/filtering and a better display output. Run the PS2 in RGB SCART and now your neck and neck between the two, for clarity anyway. IMO, PS2 is the better version graphically, but it's not exactly cut and dry.

There were two final versions for both consoles. DOA2 for Dreamcast in Japan was the Limited Edition version. There was also a DOA2 Hardcore for Japan on PS2, which had minor enhancements and additions from the US release of DOA2: Hardcore with a total of 91 costumes, slight graphical tweaks, and other extras.

Team Ninja was only given 2 months to originally port the game from the DC to the PS2 so the original release sucked.

Keep in mind though, the PS2 version has a nude Kasumi.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, unironically best on the gamecube for the hidden content that was unlocked by connecting the GBA version. No particular reason otherwise. Maybe give it a try on any 6th gen if you haven't, it's a fun game with a great soundtrack.

>>7768670
Incorrect. 5 is the worst, 4 is campy to 11 and better for it, has a fantastic aesthetic, and it's gameplay is fun nearly overall, minus the introduction of qte's. The graphics autists of the series will argue that the gamecube version is superior due to the correct lighting in a lot of areas, among other things, but personally I've never noticed a big enough difference between it and the PS2 version. The PS2 release has quite a lot of extra content, pretty much making it the best early version of the game.

The GBA version has hidden areas with various enemies and some kind of puzzle room only accessible via connecting to a GameCube copy, I don't know much about that but there's a video of it on YouTube. The GameCube version has a room accessible via the entrance hall with a painting that cannot be moved unless connected to the GBA version of the game. Entering it takes you to a rather pretty rendition of Gringotts, which doesn't seem to do much except provide you with four duplicate w/w cards, making collecting them normally in the run unnecessary, and also allows you to talk to a bunch of asshole goblins with unique voice acting not present in the other versions.

The whole thing is definitely sort of an afterthought on the gc version, but it's still a pretty neat obscure feature, and I love that sort of thing.
