how many physical retro games do you own, and do you actually go about hooking them up to CRT to play them?
and don't go telling me you download entire romsets for emulators, wading through a massive pile of shit you'll never play whenever you boot it up

I only care about retro handhelds. SNES mini for everything else.

I have a bunch of Xbox and PS2 games, handful of dreamcast and PS1, but I'm selling almost everything to downsize and move to ODEs for my consoles. Prices are a complete joke for someone like me who cares more about playing than collecting. I am keeping a couple for sentimental reasons though, like Sonic Adventure 2 and Phantom Crash.
I also have a small CRT on my desk I play them on. I have a 32" trinitron in my garage, waiting until after I move because that fucker going up and down stairs is a nightmare. Thanks for reading my blog, you can unsubscribe by shoving the Claire disc from RE2 up your ass and twisting it.

all my physical retro shit is at my parents' house in a different country, with the exception of my old pc peripherals like my sidewinder precision pro
i just emulate when it comes to non-pc retro games, honestly don't miss my consoles much at all

Autism time bitches.
Right now I have my GameCube, N64 and SNES hooked up (swapping the cord between them) to my HD TV through their original composite cables. I don't really care what the video looks like, the point is that the image is larger than my CRT's and right now I prefer to just have all my consoles hooked up to my HD TV. Anyway, Dreamcast on HDMI1, Switch on HDMI2 and XSX on HDMI3. There is a CRT about a foot away from the HDTV, sitting on top of another CRT. I prefer the top CRT because the bottom one fucks dark colors really bad. I mostly just use that to watch or record VHS tapes on though, I have a local TV channel box hooked up and sometimes record old cartoons on MeTV and stuff like that. My PS2 is right there, just not plugged in. Xbox/Xbox 360/Wii/Wii U aren't set up right now anywhere. And a bunch of portable shit.
As for physical game collections and if I actually use them:
>SNES: All my games are Super Famicom games, only have a few games though (couple Kirbys, DKC trilogy, Rock Man 7)
>N64: Besides my Pokemon Stadium 2 cart, I mostly just play my Everdrive, do have 20~ games though including two copies of Harvest Moon 64
>GameCube: Have around a dozen games (sold a bunch over the years) that I keep in two PS2 game cases. Disc only. You hate it but no matter how much you seethe, it won't change. You can play any GameCube game ever made on a hacked Wii flawlessly and I really only use my GameCube as a Game Boy Player machine.
>Xbox: I have like 8 or so games, wanted to get into Xbox but haven't really worked on the collection for a while, mostly just wanted it so I could play JSRF lagless. All my Xbox games are complete.
>PS2: CD book that holds like 20 games. I have all the Ratchets, almost all the SmackDown! games, and some other stuff and I like my little core of games in there. There's some random PS2 games I have with their case, though.
My game shit isn't on a shelf it's just kind of scattered around my apartment.

I forgot that I own a Genesis. It's not set up, obviously, it's got bad cords and shitty controllers that hardly work so I didn't even think about it. I have a decent little bunch of games though, Sonic 2 and Toy Story are good enough for me when I feel like going on a nostalgia trip and setting it up.

Literally thousands of physical retro games. Around 10 Sony trinitrons.

I’m the definition of a coomlector and I love every minute of it especially when people on this board seethe about how I spend my disposable income

I have about 80 games spread across five consoles. Not too small of a collection, nor too obnoxiously large. Just decent.

Oh and if you were wondering about my Dreamcast collection, they're all burned. Except for my Jet Set Radio collection. I have Jet Grind Radio sealed, Jet Set Radio JP complete, Jet Set Radio PAL... disc and manual only. Why didn't I just fucking get the case back then? I remember it was like $10 years and years ago for the PAL stuff. And I have a few loose discs around, shit I never ever play like WWF Attitude or Sega Bass Fishing.

1,584 physical games, according to gameye. Thats across 36 systems. The consoles that natively supported component output I'll occasionally hook up to a framemeister and play on the modern TV. The rest, I play on a PVM, including handhelds if possible. The only portable consoles I havent modded for video-out yet are the NeoGeo pocket color, and Gamegear.

As much as I prefer original hardware I only have around 20 games for the 7 retro consoles I own all hooked up to my CRT TV. I dont like to collect crap I'm never going to play even if it's cheap. A shelf of a few classics is always going to look better than a wall of sports games and licensed shovelwaree, and when I was into emulation I preferred downloading individual roms rather than entire romsets. Just looks prettier I guess rather than sifting through a pile of crap.

>> No.7695285

I own somewhere north of 1200 retro games. I haven't arranged a good setup at the place we moved into last year so I mostly keep the systems on a cube shelf beside my CRT and take down one system at a time to play. I also download fullsets because I'm a compulsive hoarder honestly.

Even having a personally curated collection you run into the mounds of shit problem though. Most of it is good shit instead of just shit, but it's hard to figure out the exact game to satisfy. I've got a baby at home now so I'm often committing the sacrilege of hooking my VR to the LCD in our living room so I can watch him while he plays with his toys and play my game at the same time. The other day I was playing the original crash with him on my lap and he was happily reefing away at the analogue sticks while I played. First time I've been grateful for a game not using them. Good times.

20 games each or total? 20 games is an acceptable all thriller no filler library size for a system but 20 games across 7 is a waste of hardware.

I have approximately 0 retro games and fill up my microsd cards with complete romsets acquired for 0$. I insert the storage into flash carts and optical drive emulators and put those into real hardware.

idk man, if you own 20 games and have them on 7 consoles, then those games must be great and worth hooking them up for
