I don't keep GBA boxes or manuals, in fact I threw out a couple last year.

I will probably buy ninja five oh for a stupid price. And Alien Hominid if I ever see it on sale.

I don't care for China but their fucking screen upgrades are a thousand fold improvement and now you can get ones which dim right down for night time bed use and get bright enough for outside play. The old screens were blurry garbage, I know, I own about thirty GBA's of various models.

The best looking one is actually the older SP unless you're trying to play in full sun. It's dim enough to be tolerable.

>> No.7412562

>>7412553
lmao, they make everything look like you are playing on a PC emulator. Everything is pixelated and saturated as fuck. The best looking screens to play GBA are AGB-101 and NDS/NDS Lite.

>> No.7412586

>>7412571
but the SP looks saturated too, and after it came out that's how the developers intended it so it depends on the game you want to play

technically you should be playing every game boy game on a period authentic game boy, the oldest gb games need to be played on the blurry 4fps refresh cheap lcd, you're cheating if you play on the pocket unless the pocket was already out when the game you're playing was current

ditto super game boy, the gamecube game boy player, etc, worthless trash because it's not how the developer intended it to look

pleb

>> No.7412603

The other issue with GBA's is that the SP and Micro both take specialized lithium ion packs which will eventually become unobtainable (already happened) and the only shit on the market is cheap ass ch*nese shrink wrapped garbage gel packs. Which already happened.

Original with a modded screen, ch*nese as it may be, is the superior choice because you have a backlight as well as the ability to run on AA's which will be around for centuries.

Glad I'm not the only one who'd rather avoid 3rd party shells/lenses/screens unless absolutely necessary.
I love my glacier model but I swear the screen just gets worse as time goes on. Is it even possible to find a reliable AGS-101 screen without paying an arm and a leg? I remember seeing somewhere that many resellers who list AGS-101 screens actually sell the IPS.
I'd rather go for the AGS-101 though because I like the crisp pixel look over IPS and I'd rather not mutilate my original hardware. Any recommended sellers?

You still have to mutilate it to get the screen to fit. I have both and the IPS is vastly better, but if you really want to keep the gridlines then you'll have to pay out for a clone 101. The ghosting sucks on those though.

My rarest GBA game has to be Car Battler Joe. I don't recall ever seeing it in stores during the heyday of the GBA. The only reason I knew about this game was from playing a ROM of it back in the day on vGBA. I bought a CIB copy off of eBay in 2011 when complete GBA games were still reasonably priced.

After looking at the prices of CIB GBA games just now, all I can say is that thank fuck kid me decided to keep all the boxes and manuals for my GBA games. I don't have any heavy hitters like Pocky & Rocky or Ninja Five-O, the latter of which I saw plenty of times at retail, but I do have some very solid titles that I've taken good care of over the years.
