playing prime 2 right now, fuck the endgame fetch quest. Feels very modern design wise, just way too easy on trilogy, like I have infinite HP and just walk into shit.

yeah, I'm exactly where you are but I'm playing on GC and I agree, I didn't have this problem with the first game
It seems like it gives you a lot more leeway than the second for how you go about the game, there is definitely a bit more challenge on the bosses though

first game was even worse for the end game fetch quest. Sometimes Echoes can be pretty gay with temple keys though, seems like an excuse to sell guides or make people get lost in case they miss one.

Difficulty wise it's standard nintendo problem not capitalizing on gameplay and design by making stuff too easy. I'm not incentivised to look for missiles or even Etanks and such.

Most first person games aren't adventure tier. There's a few like Breadkdown for the Xbox, and this one, that are pretty and immersive, good games and not call of duty tier retardedness. They are the best games, being not viewed from above nor side, the best way to have an adventure as it is more immerisve, and both breakdown and prime had the alien aesthetic that is 'escape' tier, but metroid is more so than some shit like breakdown.

>prime 2
Last time I was about to play through it after like 20+ hours of gameplay pic related happened. To this day I never bother to beat prime 2, though it is listed as one of my fav games, I get depressed as I progress to that point. Also, my computer cannot emulate dolphin anyway and I fear a scratch and all.

But alas i do own prime 2 and have it downloaded as well.

You're meant to enjoy the sites really, it's not meant to be hard. You have to use your brain and find things and solve basic puzzles and such, and that's the part that makes you engaged.

A guide? They have a 'decaderpy!' noise that goes off to let you know where shit is on the fucken map. A map.

If you need a guide for that you're some retarded faggot that can only do reflex oriented shit that cannot think.

I dunno about that, I collected the artifacts and items as I went, I didn't have to go back to find much
this one locks out almost everything until the last upgrade

Cube fans need to calm down, across the board. This is a good solid adventure game from a company that makes great adventure games, im right there with you. Just turn it down a notch it isnt the best game in the world nor is it in the best fifty.

it's kind of incredible that Metroid Prime raised nothing but giant red flags prior to release but ended up being outright incredible.

too bad about the sequels

Prime 2 was good, but did have a few issues.
Prime 3 was meh. Hunteres had alright multiplayer, but really shit singleplayer.

Prime 2 is the worst game I ever physically bought. The NTSC release was straight up unplayable.
Me and my brother actually managed to get a refund from Nintendo themselves after pestering them with calls about how awful the game was.

Not much. Nailed the atmosphere. Some great graphical touches like seeing Samus' face reflect in the visor etc. Would rather punch myself in the face than actually play it again though.

It raised a bunch of huge red flags for me for the same reasons you mentioned (you're wrong about them not making a game, though. They worked on Turok), but in the end I had to admit... the game was decent. I still have big problems with it being first person (no somersault, a key staple of Samus' moveset), and I think having to hold down a trigger button while you read through multiple pages of lore and data entries is among the dumbest decisions I've ever seen that wasn't even rectified in the sequels, but I had a lot of fun with it.

You're probably right on the money re: the sequels, though. I nope'd the heck out of the series when they added a deathmatch mode to Metroid Prime 2. Because of course an American studio would do that after spending the last two years telling people Prime was a first person ADVENTURE and not a first person SHOOTER.
