i just got a launch model 60gb PAL ps3 (CECHC03, the one with partial hardware emulation--it has the ps2 graphics chip onboard)
if i jailbreak this, will it still use the ps2 graphics chip when playing ps2 games or will it do pure software emulation?

Yes. And it shouldn't be a question of "if" since it's trivial to softmod a PS3, and it'll help extend the console's lifespan by allowing you to ramp up the fan speeds. Also, be prepared for crap PS2 compatibility with that model. Sony used to maintain a list of PS2 games compatible with CECHC/CECHE models, but took it down long ago. You might be able to find it replicated on some forum somewhere though.

Agetec did fucking HORRIBLE on the localization of the second game. They capped the framerate to 30fps when the original does close to 60 and to make the characters less japanese, they just changed nearly everyone's hair to blone and their eye colors blue. Plus there is clear cases where they try to make their localization take place somewhere in America. But there is straight up multiple instances of visible japanese text that they either didn't bother translating or straight up forgot. I'm not kidding. The tiniest items and textures are translated, but as an example; visible Japanese text is on the apartment building you have to play in the 5th characters route. Another weird example is that some NPCs and in game cutscenes have their audio straight up removed even though there is nothing compromising in them at all. They literally just cut them out for no reason! Take a look and see just how little they changed and why they even bothered
