It actually worked for me, got a scratched copy of Sonic Adventure 2, would get frozen on the pyramid level. I tried the tooth paste shit just out of curiosity and it worked.

I’m seeing this most with my GameCube games and I’m not sure if it’s them or me being a stupid little kid because all my other consoles and games work good with maybe a outlier. Gamecube's are more sensitive to scratched discs and are exhibiting some fairly widespread drive failure too. If you have a way to get it resurfaced it may work just fine.
