Pros and cons?

>> No.7139021 [DELETED]

>>7138984
pros: art style, music, atmosphere. weapon system. character interactions are really solid. towns are decent, world is varied. villains are well done. story gets good later on.

cons: takes a while to get going, combat is stupid slow on PS2 (get 3DS version or use Cheat_Engine.exe to speedup the Ps2 version). Random encounters are piss easy (but it's jrpg so that's normal), bosses are also piss easy except one or two. running around the world is fun at first but theres not much to do besides grind enemies and pick up loot.

Piss easy?
I remember back around 2008-09 /v/ when this game alongside Nocturne were considered to be the hardest video games ever. Pre-Dark Souls /v/.

Only way it's hard is if you run away from too many fights and are underleveled, which does happen because you can see enemies walking around the world and dungeons and avoid them, no random encounters.

the fucking irony

you have no imagination thats why you need it in cliche video games spoonfed, you have social development deficit thats why you need FWENDS in a GAME, you have AUTISM thats why you invest in long pointless vidya expeditions to save princess from wizard and talking mushroom with no skill whatsoever just menuing and selecting potion.

this post cut that sad troll deep, must be true.

DQ games are comfort food; you hangout with a cool bunch of characters fighting monsters and doing quests.

>>7138984
Best way to play is at night, after a shower. Get comfy in bed and boot it up for 30 to 45 minutes. Save points aren't too far apart.

Hell no. Zero grinding required.

>> No.7140849

You can easily hit 100 hours playing this. It's true that it's not particularly difficult, but the gameplay is very enjoyable. Everything from the music to the expressions on the enemy's faces were joyfully done. This was the best Square Enix game of that generation.

Little known fact: Dragon Quest and SMT games strongly encourage grinding, and players these days are impatient and demand instant gratification. When you sit in every new area and actually fight enemies until you level up to the point of diminishing EXP returns, things can't hurt you and die quickly, making the games manageable. When you try to rush story flags like a kid on a sugar high, the bosses of each area lay you out, and you go on imageboards to cry about difficulty and spam pics of Jessica's tits.

this is true. I rushed to the thief boss in DQIII and he wiped my party 6 times in a row until I went back to level up and get better gear. Actually the big issue was I had no mana on my healer & mage but getting some better gea and a level up didn't hurt.

Pros. It's a Beautiful game that feels like an anime. Music is god tier and the voices are good. Tons of little details makes this a wonderful experience

Cons. Ps2 only has the orchestra OST.

it's the best DQ game by a long shot. though i have to agree that it's not that difficult. apart from the dragon graveyard and the post-game, i didn't have a hard time at all, and that's while doing a fisticuffs only run. still, great game. amazing music and sick ass graphics. it oozes SOUL

>> No.7142874

Pros:
>gorgeous graphics
>beautiful misic
>Monster teams
>fun, classic, DQ gameplay
>Jessica's rack

Cons:
>no HD remaster on current/next gen

DQ8 is comfy af, and one of my favorite jrpgs.

Pros are the aesthetics, they're 10/10
Character balance is very good, there are lots of roles each one can take on depending on your skill allotment.

Story takes way too long to get going. Game is piss easy until certain bosses that are huge difficulty spikes. I wouldn't say grinding is necessary but most people will. I like the tension system but the endgame becomes too focused on it.

The 3ds remake is excellent. Random encounters being gone was a godsend. Extra superbosses and characters were nice to have.

Can verify to speed up the combat to level up. Like all JRPGs the running around a save point for hours is soul crushing.
