Sorry anon but as an FFX fan I need to take his side on this. The sphere grid was a pretty awful idea, it was no different from leveling up manually for the overwhelming majority of the game. Remember the original releases didn't have the expert grid that gave more flexibility. The only good thing about it is that it allowed for the No Sphere Grid challenge run.
