Been thinking either a vita, a 3DS or a retroid pocket, a switch seems kinda bulky portability wise.

Since Doomworld has the monopoly on Plutonia sequels and is working on a Plutonia 3, I was thinking "Italian Plutonia 3", inspired by all the unofficial sequels to other people's movies made in Italy in the 70s and 80s. They were made on super low budgets and often shot in the jungles in the Philippines since it was so cheap to do - and Plutonia is all jungles.

Hello /vr/

i recently wanted to try the build engine games like Duke, Blood, Redneck Rampage and Ion Maiden
but the phenomenon i can only describe by pic related makes me barf the fuck out whenever i play it
That and (atleast when i started ion maiden) that i can't put the fov up to my sweet spot of around 130. Are there any settings i'm missing? Are there different engines/sourceports i can run these games in?

Please help a hopeless queasy quakefag out.

Here is some interesting Q2 mapping stuff that i've been finding of late
>Q2 Monsters are used in the wrong ways in single player besides a few maps, like Vanilla Doom and Q1.
>Gladiators lacks Melee but they are perfect Sniping turrets, same goes to Iron Maidens, they are better used in Reckoning and GZ, plus some maps.
>Tanks has melee Attacks that deals a lot of damage, but the Default AI doesn't let them do that, the 1st encounter in Q2 campaign was supposed to be harder because he wouldn't let you get closer, with the stomp sending you flying
>Parasites are better used in Mission packs and Community Units, the are complete assholes in tight corridors and traps. Q2 lacked that because they disappear from the ammo depot and onwards, also ammo depot is good example of the monsters used right.
>Gunners are worse than Ogres they lack melee, but the grenade and hitscan spam makes them dangerous, mainly in higher platforms.
>Guards works better in group and paired with Gunners, berserkers or enforcers, xatrix made a well use of it with their new guards.
>Mission Pack and Unnoficial pack monsters are good, but no one ever made a Quoth of it along with the PS1 monster rips, and the closest to it is lost along with Planet Quake.
>Q2 is easier to make maps and mods due to C language, Trenchbroom made it easier, though it lacks some neat stuff in it like the old custom weapon mods from Planet Quake, one even restored the Disintegrator into Q2. Also it seems that Yamagi, KMQ2 and Q2XP supports the same stuff as Quakespasm, fitz and FTE when it comes to huge maps.
>The Boss monsters seems to have unused shit in it like the Super Tank Spamming triple grenades from its tracks, the Flyer boss with chainguns and Railgun, they are stuck with garbage, therefore easier to beat them, mission packs and other stuff fixed that, mainly xatrix beta super tanks, Jorg and Makron feels weaker because of the AI, Makron should be spamming bfg shots even at close range.

Depended on what sponsors they could scrounge up. Hardware vendors with their big banners would mostly offer stock they couldn't move or just wanted to get rid of. Anything from gimmicks like keyboard expansions (extra numpad, wow) to quality headphones. Pretty limited at the start but as interest grew over the years, motherboards, CPUs and graphics cards came into play. Monitors too. Pretty big deal for the early 2000s. Energy drinks (Jolt) came in pretty late. 64 cans full of diabetes! Who didn't want THAT? 1on1 Quake tourneys offered the best stuff. The 5on5 CS crowd fought over cash, really good headphones and the exposure their clans needed to get into the bigger leagues. Some people traveled far and wide only to eventually get shot down by "real pros."
>How the hell do you get smoother and more reliable shots than me? I'm at 200 FPS here and you're at 120!
>WELL YOU SEE, CHUMP. THE THING ABOUT FRAME TIMES, DRIVERS AND OVERHEAD IS THAT...
Nobody REALLY understood what they were talking about but it sure was interesting to listen to. Learned a lot about the finer details back in those days.

Decino made videos about quake 2's unused stuff because of it, mainly monsters, with the one suffering most being the berserker. Who was rabid as Q4 Zerks.

Fortunately Mission packs, Unofficial and Community maps did them right.
The Cmdr. Theodoricos guy plays them along with some obscure Q1 maps.

A lot of these old FPSs were mostly experiements with game design/engines and i can see its setting either be seen as "just dark fantasy" or even redesigns to look more generic like a spin off to TES or Warcraft.
Most of these "throwback" shooters, both AAA and indie select certain concepts and have to create specific combos to feel unique, for better or worse.
These are similar reasons why i don't want Blood 3, besides 2 being shit, the nature and spirit of Blood being hard to pull off nowadays and the absense of the source code.
Even the new Doom games feel different and not just in gameplay, but at least we still have mods/wads and there's some things to like from new Doom, at least to some people.
Instead of Hexen 3, maybe some old members reuniting just to make a Sigil-like mapset.

Fixed Roundabout Cliffside in 2048vr. TL;DR is I probably fixed the softlock issue the majority of the time and if a monster gets stuck it won't render the map incompletable. Par time probably needs to be changed slightly to account for the slower lift sequence too. Anyway, the changelog is include the wad.
I also attempted to include a teleport that would have fixed some outliers with player speeds (e.g. a Nicotine rush in Trailblazer) just inside the monster closet door, but I couldn't find a tag or method that won't occasionally teleport monsters as well. At least now you have be trying and quick reload spamming to softlock it, I guess.

To get singleplayer working, you have to mod your UI so it actually shows the campaign option and download the campaign maps separately. No idea about the restoration patches, though.

There's also MCC, but y'know

Absolutely, I am pretty pissed jannies decided to add 2000s era shooters on /vr/ instead of making a separate board. It doesn't help that it is impossible to talk about either 90s era or 2000s era, since either thread will be filled with either off-topic or will archive within seconds. True, although, I will also say that the big problem is they've been under pretty bad management. The guy that basically lead the team through Halo 4-5 was the guy with the worst ideas out of everyone in the old Bungie team. So, things kinda went rough because of that.
>Tools and browser should come eventually, it's just gonna be a painful wait.
I can wait honestly. it's a matter of time, but it should come soon.
>i don't mind having the odd 2000s era shooter talk here if the flooding can be kept at bay, but that's a pretty big if.
Honestly, I doubt it will. I feel /vr/ has been going on this steady decline since 2019, and I think this move might've helped to accelerate. Plus it doesn't help that talking about ANY obscure game from any era will be impossible now, it'll either have to be a popular game or a just something shitpost-y like Crysis. It'll be impossible to talk about obscure games from the 80s-90s and obscure games from the 2000s. I already made two threads about a few obscure 2000s game,s and they've died pretty quickly. 80s-90s video games had their own big niche and the same goes for early 2000s video games, both confined into their own time era, combining the two will just lead to inevitable shitposting and constant warring between the two.
>/v2k/ would have definitely been the better call.
Absolutely.

Level 05 has a single enemy that won't reveal. Seems to be due to a fast conveyor belt.
Level 07 has a 3 key switch, which only sometimes works for people on complevel 11. Mbf has known issues with 3key doors, but people are reporting different things. I've been unable to recreate the issue, play at your own risk.
There are some others that are unrelated to complevel I discovered while testing. They are issues present on both complevel 9 and 11.

Considering the Penitentiary's "snitch program" where people would be forced/blackmailed into snitching, and if they refused they would be moved to the "protected wing", signalling to everyone else that they were a snitch (regardless of if they actually were or not). They would also intentionally have all the white collar criminals and other small time guys intermingle with all the hardcore and deranged violent offenders, to encourage 'prison newbies' to snitch.

These kinds of fucked up things, along with the outright criminally bad living conditions inside (literally rotten food, cockroaches everywhere, holes in the floor for toilets in some cellblocks, not enough beds, abusive guards), lead to so much needless suffering overall, and would cause the eventual riot. The most fucked up part is that everyone got away with it, nobody really faced any consequences for the beyond fucked up violence and rape that happened, and the people who had engineered the environment that caused it, didn't face any repercussions either, at all, and the prison continued like that for years. It's also very likely that more than the official stated number died, because forensics were made impossible for a number of reasons, and records, which were poorly kept to begin with, were all burned in the riots. It's probable that there's people who were there and were killed who there were little to no outside knowledge or records of being there, and who were practically 'disappeared' there with no evidence of it.

It really is one of the darkest events in 20th century American history, and few people even know about it.

I didn't set out to make that level about that, by the way, in fact I made that level before I ever read about that subject, it was a prison (I asked my brother for an idea, he suggested a prison level), but it wasn't a horrible nightmare prison like that, hell just invaded the world and the inmates were casualties of that. I read about the riot afterwards and would see some parallels between the detailing I did in the level and the horrible mental images I got reading about the violence.

Theres still a noticable amount of small issues. It really just depends on how much of a purist you are. I personally think someone should play the purest possible option on at least their first playthrough, otherwise its up to you.

Megaton has Life's A Beach, and on console it has slightly better controls, but it's also buggier.
Anniversary Edition doesn't have Life's A Beach, and the audio is weird, but it has a nicer hardware renderer, and some of the levels in the Alien World Order episode are actually really good. It also has some commentary from devs about a bunch of the old and new levels, which is actually pretty cool.

However, you're best off just taking the game files and running them in EDuke32 either way. Don't give Randy money.

Your sector slope is based off the angle from the "first wall", which changes when you split the sector up and each piece inherits the slope angle with new first walls. You can change the first wall around by holding down right-click and hitting alt F on a sector floor or ceiling.

Not him, but as a fan and admirer of Sandy, I think it's his weakest map, it's kind of just a bunch of squares in a large area, the progression and exploration is in large part just not interesting.

Part of this is because it was supposed to be Hell On Earth, and they realized "Well shit, we need a city level!" but I think that was hampered some by technological limitations (having to be playable on a 386). If you've seen the beta version of that level, it used to have wharfs where in the final version, they've been cut down into alleys, and I think that shows he probably had more ambitious ideas for Downtown, but it wasn't in the cards at the time.
