I would like a list too. I really want to get one plus a Cd drive but there's no good solution available. Ssds3 is not available plus the rgb out was fucked, and it is expensive as fuck. I want to just get the base system and the everdrive but you're missing half the good games on the console without the cd drive.

Old drives like that are usually unreliable too.

its not 100% compatible
perhaps some other people on this board can chime in as i know people here have it and love it.

the CHEAPEST way besides emulation is to get the briefcase unit as it is modular and if something breaks you can swap parts out. all the horror stories are a bit exaggerated imo, its an antique console and the very first disc based system ever made aside from a home PC. it is eventually going to have problems.

i poached my unit from a japanese seller who replaced the gears and capacitor
the gears are the main issue as they really are shit. but its not major surgery to get to them if you are gentle you can replace yourself.

ebay / everdrive was $75ish on sale hit the wiki and got the complete retail library

we loved it so much we picked up the briefcase cd-addon (hence the thread)

I thought most of the problems with the ssds3 got fixed, that's a shame. That being said, I still have no problems with my Super CD attachment and Arcade Card Duo.

Nice. How much did you pick that up for?
I have a Duo - R and a Briefcase like yours. My Duo - R only reads Hu-Cards. I bought a brand NOS Laser for it. Didn't change much of anything. One time manually setting the laser at the edge to force the system to speed up I was able to get it to read a Audio CD. The Sound was all Wobbly, but it was reading. So I started seeing if I could tune it from there with the pots. It stopped reading and I was never able to get that far with it ever again. Reeeeeeee
Then I got a Briefcase with the CDRom2 and a System 3 Card for $80. Got an old White PCE for about $30. And Eventually I got the Arcade Pro Card for it since my CDRom2 seems Solid as a rock. LOVES CD-R's. Now I just need some DeOxit for my MultiTap. Damn thing loves losing the Up direction and has to be messed with to get working again. Can't seem to get the pins cleaned enough my self.
