>> No.6585039

Check it for coke and meth! You'll need them to play it.
You... ARE going to play it, right?

They're something I don't care about, honestly, it's just investors and speculators jerking each other off. The only time it bothers me is when they do it to prototypes, since it makes these braindead literal boomer investors want to buy them, taking them out of the price range of 99% of preservationists.

>> No.6585183

>>6585127
Now that I can agree with. Prototype investors are the antichrist.

>> No.6585682

Haha. 3.5. You’ve made it less valuable as everyone can now see it’s piss poor quality, and you paid a premium to find that out. 3.5. Pffff.

What's that big box for?
Can you even open it to play your game?

>> No.6585740

WATA shells are apparently designed to be breakable in case you want to remove the game.

Some part of me sees why somebody might want to slab a sealed game that they're never going to open anyway, turning it into some sort of protected display piece. Granted, that is nothing I would ever do. But grading and slabbing a fucking loose cartridge? That's just plain fucking silly. It's like marrying a whore - the thing's already been passed around, beat up, used, and isn't even fully intact anymore, so just fuck around with it a bit and have some fun, but don't put the used up thing on a pedestal and glorify it like it still has some meaningful, lasting value worthy of protection and preservation.

Wait what the fuck is grading? Like someone giving a fucking note on your game?

In theory giving it a score of value by authenticity, "mint"-ness etc.
In reality someone sitting there with his thumb up his ass, pulling it out again and giving the game the number he then finds on it.

I understand grading as a concept and can see the value of it for sealed games and to a lesser degree CIB games, but loose carts? I guess I'm old fashioned, but a bare cart (unless it was only ever distributed as a bare cart) has such diminished collector value relative to new and CIB that it makes no sense to grade, especially when in as poor of a condition as OP's example. Grading a loose cart just smells of "see, I'm a real big time collector, too."

>> No.6586428

>>6586417
(and don't get me wrong, I do not have any faith in any grading company's valuation skills, especially when WATA gladly validates prototypes despite clearly having no clue what they're talking about, and I think that the whole thing is absolute bullshit for the game collecting hobby as a whole, but I could see somebody wanting to entomb a sealed game they're never going to play anyway or a minty CIB copy)

This is literally the peak of autism. It completely defeats the purpose of a videogame, how fuckin mentally challenged do you need to be to lock a videogame, any videogame inside a plastic shell and sell them for ludicrous prices when you can get a sealed or mint copy for just a fraction of the price? This literally pisses me off. Just when I thought collectors and hoarderfags couldn't get even more retards they come up with this dumb shit.
Fuck whoever came up with this stupid shit and fuck whoever did this. Even if it was a shit game or a sports game nobody gives a crap, this is the stupidest, retarded and fucking ridiculous shit you can do to a fucking videogame.
I hope you all die in a fire among your collection of useless plastic, microchips, and optical media you fucking waste of semen

>collectors
Most collectors have interest in games as games. These people are investors. Some came over from comics once they felt game investing was "legitimized." They'd collect fucking Polly Pockets if some company graded them and made them think there's a long term profit potential. These people and the companies that cater to them are cancer.
