You mean to tell me no one here at all remembers the launch day of this game in the states?

>> No.6279057

No. There wasnt media bombarding you 24-7 telling you when it was coming out. It was easy to not be away of it until later on.

>> No.6279071

Are there people this old on /vr/? I was born the year this came out.

SMB was launched in Japan Friday, September 13, 1985. The exact US launch date seems to have been lost to time. It's believed that it was available for sale by November though.

This. I was 11 at the time and don't remember it's launch at all. I remember playing it for the first time at a friend's house but how long after it was out I did that I couldn't say. It was a different era.

By the time of the Genesis I was more into games and then I was there launch day.

That's because NES had a slow release schedule, first being sold in New York in October 1985 then LA the following February and the final full launch in September of '86.

As I remember it most kids weren't getting their Nintendos til 87

I remember seeing the stats somewhere, NES sales boomed in 87 and peaked Christmas 88 (that's when I got mine)

I'm a yooroper. We were never really Nintendo brainwashed like the 80s burgerlanders. Miner Willy was the shit back then, not some gay Italian.
