>/vr/ calls this "Super Castlevania Bros." to imply that it and Super Mario Bros. easy

True imo. I have beaten Castlevania 1-3 but can't even beat the first Mario. That last world fucks me up and I run out of lives every time. Games with limited lives are ridiculously hard for me

There is a continue code

desu I think those of us who grew up with SMB1 and played it for hundreds of hours underestimate how hard it is for folks to who don't know EVERYTHING about it

>>6272007
>SMB2J
On my bucket list still, def harder than most Castlevanias (probably not Haunted Castle tho)

How is Mario harder than Castlevania?

Actraiser and Musya wasa alot fun than overrated Super Castlevania.

>> No.6272104

actraiser is nice but CV4 is a more fleshed out game in a number of ways

My 3 year old son can beat Castlevania but he can't beat Super Mario Bros 1.

Australia-kun isn't /vr/.
The meme never made sense, and never caught up, he keeps trying to force it after all these years, though.

I believe it refers to the loose, floaty, SMW-like jumping control, which IV was the first CV to do.

>> No.6272265

People need to learn home brew for Bloodlines Alien Soldier and Hard Corp for the Super NES.

>> No.6272271

>>6272256
Nah, it's just because Australia-kun has a trauma with Nintendo in general, especially the Super Nintendo, so he wanted to use Mario somehow as an "insult".
There has been many threads discussing IV and Australia could never really come up with any real criticism for hating it so much other than "it's on nintendo, fucking nindendildos", etc.

Maybe not CV2, but CV1 is a fairly easy game when you think about how short it is, and how only a couple of setpieces are really actually very hard. Bosses are very easy too except for Frankie and especially Death.
Mario doesn't have any boss that requires any item exploit like how you need Holy Water for Death (unless you want to deal with scythe RNG hell), but the 4 levels of world 8 are probably harder as a whole than the last 2 stages of CV1.
Anyway, a lot of it is subjective and hard to compare in an actual objective 1:1 way.
In my experience CV1 is not as hard as many people claim.

>Maybe not CV2
I meant 3.
Obviously 2 is easy in terms of action and the only difficulty comes from the exploration/finding secrets and solving quests.
SMB2J/Lost Levels is harder than any Castlevania, though.

I'm actually not. He's beaten quite a few games so far and really enjoys them. Couldn't beat SMB though he did beat SMW.

Haha are people still hurt over this guy years later. The guy you responded too legit told you what the issue with cv4 was and you ignored it without reason. You are the guy you hate.

It's not an issue though.
CV3 also has a character that outright lets you fly. No other CV after CV1 is really like CV1, each and every CV added new stuff to the formula.

Also, I don't hate australia-kun. At first I thought he was kinda funny, but then he became way too repetitive.
Nowadays I just cringe whenever he appears and tries to force his stuff again in hopes newfags will eat it up.

Bloodlines had way more "showy" gimmicks, including the final stage. This argument was never substantial.

Bloodline is different story.

Should be on SNES only from very start. More developed as serie evolve.

Something about the vibe of all the levels leading up to the castle is the best the series has ever been. Castle itself is a bit of a letdown though.

I thought the castle actually has some great locations: ballroom, library, gallery/armory, treasury. I want to live in that castle.
