It became RHDN policy recently (early 2020) to remove patches based on the base game's contents, directly because of ResetEra vs Goemon 3 (hence the mention).
Napple Tales was released last year and is still affected by this, it's getting a "problematics removal patch" to replace the 1.0 version. More will come in time.

Pretending this doesn't happen is at best naive, and at worst malicious downplaying of the situation so that no one grabs the hack in time.

MrRichard spoke up about RHDN on twitter, regarding how they treated the Goemon team.
He is now permabanned... and most interestingly, any new translation with his involvement is banned, as well as anyone who tries to submit it.

A lot of romhackers already stated their support for the Goemon team, so expect a full-scale purge soon.
There is a backup from 2015 on archive.org, anything newer should be preserved because a lot of them rely on that compromised place as their sole hosting place.

The TRS script was translated in one go without feedback from testers and the like. Besides, he was less experienced back then (which is evident by the occasionally odd grammar in the patch and Holmes spouting "Parents can eat shit" at one point).

The changes in the Berwick translation are very minor in comparison, the BWS patch has been tested and vetted chapter by chapter, and has multiple Japanese speakers involved. Aggro_Incarnate provided a lot of input on scenes involving Herman for example. I also persuaded Aethin to modify the script to be more faithful at a few points as well (a line in the Roswick-Enid post-chapter 6 scene comes to mind).

The early Dragon Warrior localizations made a couple of changes to the Dragon Quest games (generally for the better, some unnecessary), so I can see there being a demand for a literal experience. I know some who prefer the SNES fan-translations over the official DS remakes, so this should be right up their alley. The next three are probaby planned next.

Okay people, I'd really like to know how far gone the RHDN situation is. I know about the Goemon thing, don't know about MrRichard, and have only a vague understanding of the submission grievances. For reference, I've been working on a retranslation patch on my own time (won't disclose which game now in fear it'll bite me later), and there are one or two lines where the official localization adds empowerment to a female character that simply wasn't there in the original text. In my mind, the change is very similar to one in EarthBound, where Paula says that instead of crying if Ness didn't arrive to rescue her, she'd "have had to try to bust out of here," which always rubbed me the wrong way because it made her seem like a lazy wretch that used Ness if she's supposedly capable of saving herself and reduces the dramatic setup of the circumstances in which you meet her. I admit, my retranslation hack also has elements of a relocalization, but this is something I will not compromise on since my goal is to be more true to the text and meaning of the original language. At this rate, if someone's going to shriek and hatemob that I removed girl power that was added in localization, we're going to have to set up shop elsewhere, except I don't know of any serious alternative to RHDN.

The Goemon 3 team was attacked by resetera, and despite calls to the community and administration to protect them by fellow veteran romhackers, the RHDN administration not only chose to refuse, but cracked down on the popular support for the translator. They bid their time, then blocked everything DDS would submit, even unrelated games (Goemon 2), until he would submit the cut patch as an option, then approved that temporarily and told him he had to make it mandatory. He then withdrawed from twitter.
Then other romhackers got complaints to "update" "problematic patches" released in the past over content in the original game. It's now a de facto rule.
Then the many romhackers who supported Tom and DDS are starting to get retaliated against over that, starting with MrRichard, and a NEW translation hack he was a contributor to, that's now banned from submission, and anyone who submits it is threatened with bans. A "deplatforming". They propose deleting his previous work as well (84 translations) There's many more romhackers (many "sjws too) who supported Tom and disapproved of this last move, who are next.

The real issue is that fan translations have become dependent on RHDN not just to host their patches but also to have a space for people to give them feedback and a place to hang out with other translators. There's nothing stopping them from putting it up on mediafire or wherever, making the announcement on twitter, and getting the word out by emailing some game journalists about it, but they choose not to because it means looking at 15-16 different places to make sure you're on top of all translation news at all times. Compare that to the OP where you just go to RHDN's front page and can see everything under the sun immediately.
