What is the best handheld emulator machine so that i can play while i am comfy in bed? I have seen somethings about the vita but have also heard that the 3ds is better, thoughts?

If you don't play them on original hardware, you might as well not play

Fuck off. No one's gonna spend a fortune just to get every console and game legit nowadays.

Honestly, your phone is the most robust and flexible machine you're gonna get.

>> No.6086642

Vita has a smartphone quality OLED screen, while also being a real game console with first party quality controller components.

Emulation is somewhat spotty due to low power, though. The only working SNES emulator I found was the 2002 SNES 9x core...which has emulation mistakes I remember seeing in ZSNES back in 2000. So I guess you're getting the retro emulation experience, too.

Just the sheer number of arcade comps, series and PSX games BEFORE you even emulate is worth it.

No one here wants to accept Android, as of 2016, completely BTFO switch, vita, psp, 3ds, etc. Saves space too.

Just got a Moqi i7s. Excellent performance PSP and below, basically a strong android emulator with some hardware buttons built in. Vita and PSP emulation does not compare.

A New3DS is a robust, comfy emulation machine that can perfectly run Nes, Master System, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advanced, Game Gear, Super Nes, Genesis, Sega CD, Turbografx, Neo-Geo, Capcom CPS-1 and 2, DS and 3DS games.
Now it can support PSX games with more than acceptable quality, and constantly receives new upgrades.
So depending of what games do you want to play, is either that or a Vita. In fact, why not both of them?

I would've picked one of these up were it not for the analogue sticks. D-pad needs to be primary on these kinds of systems, and few things need dual analogues.

Getting a New Pocket Go 2 instead because of the form factor, and that it's basically a revised GCW Zero. Performance should be identical unless people put the effort into development again, I want a new version of PocketSNES based on Snes9x 1.60 rather than 1.43

A new version of pocketsnes just ain’t going to happen unfortunately.. the performance gap between 1.43 and 1.6 is absolutely huge

Sometimes people wanna play some retro console games while on vacation or on long road trips, and emulating them on an handeld is a neat convenience with an added bonus of playing the games of said handeld and (depending on how recent it is) also it doubling as a media player such as this precious pearl in pic related.

>>6086612
Money aside? A new model GPD Win 2 fanless with the buttons replaced with 3DS membranes. A N2DS is the best mid priced option. For a budget handheld probably the Pocket Go, a used 2DS or a PSP depending on what you want to play. A 2DS won’t do PSX but obviously will do DS and 3DS games on top of all the 2D consoles. You get PSX and PSP games with the PSP. The Pocket Go is a neat size and can be had for around $30 new from China.

Can you report if you're able to play Mischief Makers on the 64 emulator? I'm probably buying one of these too, mostly for ps1 games. Hoping to play Final Fantasy Tactics on this.

>> No.6088005

>>6087957
That's a shame, because it seems like emulator accuracy is key to getting some more notable ROM hacks like Super Metroid + A Link to the past combo randomizer working.

It won't run on PocketSnes as mentioned, it doesn't run on Snes9x for Old 3DS either.

I have a GCW Zero right here and I can tell you now that the included N64 emulator on the Pocket Go 2 (and virtually everything else) is taken from what was available for the GCW Zero.

https://boards.dingoonity.org/gcw-development/mupen64plus-technical-preview/100/

Mupen64 plus on the GCW Zero was a technical preview and it was never that impressive, but I'm gonna try Mischief Makers now. It'll probably run lower than 50% speed though and might have severe graphical issues. Pic related is from Smash Bros 64 intro running on GCW Zero.
