Nope, you're a zoom zoom. No 30yo boomer would put QL above Q3 just for nostalgia reasons or talk about UT/CS in that way anymore.

I did not articulate my personal opinion but how it was seen by most back in 2000 when OPs debate was most present. I enjoyed CS quite a lot, because you can go grab a beer if you got killed. Also Q3A is very fast and I can't play this focused for more than half an hour.
UT had a few interesting concepts, I liked the D-Day scenario and the secondary fire mode of most weapons was interesting too.
But for speed, aesthetics and a lot more good reasons, Q3A is still my favourite.

Q3A was in the shelves in Germany until 31st of December 1999. I remember huge piles of boxes in Mediamarkt. They sold it to everyone without checking ID, because they knew it would be banned by 2000. Got mine just in time. Still have it.

vanilla quake 3 has 1 good map
it's also a boomer shooter that's too hyper for actual boomers
the speed is unmatched, you will never drive an F1 car but you can get a decent idea what's it like playing CPMA
go play DeFRaG as well, to really appreciate the skill based movement

UT is somewhere between Tribes and Quake
bit more slower pace, more tactical with area denial weapons and awkward rocket launcher
weapons are more interesting and more powerful than either
kickass soundtrack, actually good bots, absolutely legendary maps
movement is sluggish and shit

in other words, classic case of coke vs pepsi
