What are the best Atari 7800 games?
Also, did you ever have one?

>> No.6008418

I've had several, Ballblazer is one of the greatest games ever created, and the 7800 version is the best. inb4 Amiga fags say that having a screen-border makes that version better.

Ballblazer looks really cool

Beyond being a total blast to play, with impressively smooth scrolling, the melody of the theme is algorithmically generated, so it's different every time you listen to it, and gets more interesting the longer you listen. It's the POKEY sound chip at its best.

It's got a killer homebrew scene, that alone makes owning one worth it. Only other original game that I remember standing out was Desert Falcon

cENTIPEDE. i DON'T KNOW WHY MORE GAMES DIDN'T GET PORTED TO THE SYSTEM LIKE mILLIPEDE.

mORE 2600 GAMES SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A 7800 REMAKE AND MORE ARCADE GAMES SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN PORTED TO THE SYSTEM.

yes, I mad

One of the selling points of the 7800 was that it played the 2600 games that people already owned. Yeah, a lot of games would be great with a remake, but people just didn't want to buy the same games again.

Centipede was a good game
>>6009240
I first played 2600 games on a 7800 with Sega Genesis controllers (all the joysticks were broken)
Off the top of my head, I can think of a bunch of great 2600 games. When it comes to 7800, it's a bit hazy.

Ninja golf was a game lots NES players wanted to play I don't think it was ever ported to the NES.

There just isn't a ton of games for 7800 to begin with. Developers were still making games for the 2600, because everyone and their dog already owned a 2600.

I was that kid who had a 7800 while everyone else had a SMS or NES.
But Mario Bros and Donkey Kong JNR kicked ass, the only other title I had was Karateka and that wasn't much chop. All my other games were 2600 titles.

Me too. I had a 7800, everyone else had a NES. We were poor and you can bet your ass I was grateful for that 7800 and all the second-hand 2600 games that came our way.

Not him but the other anon who had a 7800 instead of a NES - I remember being so disappointed when I got this cart. I didn't know Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. were two seperate things.

>> No.6010810

I had one. got it practically free from Toy Works on clearance with some games. I really liked the tag team wrestling game whatever it was called. up to that point it was my favorite wrestlin game, blew away the shitty wrestling games on nes.

Holy shit are you my dad? I remember going there with my dad to buy a 7800 because it was so cheap and we couldn't afford a NES.
The kid working there asked my dad "are you sure this is what you want?" and mentioned it was discontinued.

Me Too.

I spent every weekend from 1990 - 1994 going to flea markets, garage sales and thrift stores looking for Atari, Coleco, and Intelivision games.

I even bought games and systems from my older classmates who were able to afford NES, SMS, Genesis and SNES games.
