You know, I always assumed Actraiser Guy was a golden elf until I saw this picture.

As a kid I thought Mario was covering his body with his arms in a ridiculous fashion to cover himself, instead of ducking and holding his hat.

I think it's just a temporary avatar for God. The Master in Soul Blazer is the same as the player character in Actraiser, and you never see him take corporeal form. At the end of Actraiser 2 his avatar turns into a statue and crumbles apart.

Actraiser should come back as an action adventure and strategy or sims type of hybrid game like the original. Don't think any more modern game has ever attempted something like that so it would be real fun.
