The only I like better about the Genesis version is that in the SNES version your radar disappears when you transform into a monster or ghost. Seems like a bug.

Off the top if my head without looking up a guide...

>Squirtgun - basic weapon for one shot to kill monsters like zombies, pod people & gillmen. Becomes scarcer later on. You saved up right?
>Weedwhacker - Frankenstein & Chainsaw psychos (Don't waste this in on plants, it's a trick. Use as little as possible to clear alien fungus)
>>Fire extinguisher - Freezes enemies in place, they then take double damage from other weapons. One shots fire dolls, clears fires. Best when used in combo with wheedwhacker against Frankensteins
>Crucifix - ONLY use on Draculas
>Silverware - One shots werewolves
>Alien bubble gun - puts humanoid enemies in stasis briefly. Kills giant ants in one hit (an unintended side effect of the ants not matching the intended target? ie humans.
>Popsicles - One shots blobs
>Footballs - One shots football players
>Soda cans - The only way to damage ufos because they are the only projectile with an arc?
>Bazooka shells - One shots most enemies. Don't be tempted! You need a shit ton of these for the last boss

Plates make short work of Dr. Tongue's second form at the end of the game, even better than the bazooka.

I think Tomatoes were meant to be used for the Martian soldiers. Don't think they worked, though.

The Flamethrower (SNES only, if you can find it) should ONLY be used on the giant spider bosses. Each one takes about 200 rounds of concentrated fire, and you just barely have enough for both at 400.

Monster Potion is best for the sandworms and big babies. Don't move, as that just makes it wear off quick. Stay in one place and don't stop punching while they continue to lunge into your fists

Ghost Kid Potions are absolutely vital in water stages as they let you walk on water and grab the swimming neighbors before the gillmen do.

True.
That's very much in tune with monsters movies. In the end the heroes always discover the monster's weakness through some plot contrivance. Then the heroes ass pull a way to defeat the invincible radioactive mutant aliens.

THE PAST
>As a child, Little Tongue spent most of his time playing at home due to being self conscious about his large oversized tongue deformity
>Dr. Tongue's abusive overbearing mother collected fine China
>One day while playing, Lil' Tongue accidently smashes his mother's china collection
>Enraged his mother grounds Tongue for the rest of his life
>Imprisoned in the basement of the family home he becomes isolated, weird, and craves revenge against the entire world
>He dedicates his life to mad science and creates an army of monsters to punish the world that wronged him
>However Deep psychological scars remain due to the inciting incident of breaking his Mother's fine China collection

THE PRESENT
*ZEKE & JULIE are throwing plates at DR. TONGUE'S giant disembodied floating head*
>DR. TONGUE: "I'm sorry mommy! I didn't mean to break your special plates!"
>ZEKE (continuing plate throwing): "Don't stop now. Let him have it!"
>DR. TONGUE (sobbing): "I'll glue 'em back together I swear! Don't put me in the basement mommy! "

So, not quite retro but we are getting dangerously close to where people consider games of this era to be so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3p2JscH_oA&list=PLE7DlYarj-DeckgoK06YAaLYq3suac7dq&index=4

Vampire gives me good spooky vibes.

There was this game called "Funny Monsters For Tea" from the mid-90s that also came to mind, but I can't find so much as an article about it. If anyone remembers or knows wehre I can find it, it'd be much appreciated It's a kids game akin to the magic school bus series but I digress.
