Just realized if a game needs a "translation" to be playable and enjoyable it is not actually a game but an aberration and probably satanic too.

Best games transcend language barriers. Because games are GAMES.
No one needs to "translate" chess or boxing or mario or street fighter, these are actual games.

I know this is nitpicky weeaboshit but I was playing Gekioh/Shienryu the other day and the american publisher translated 「curse dragon」 as 「slow mode」. This shouldn't bother me as much as it does.

If you aquire even an intermediate level of fluency in ANY language you will invariably become a snob and won't accept translations anymore. Things will just sound wrong to you like it's being said by an alien. This applies to any language and it's not just limited to weeabos either. The original vision is always so much cooler. It's frustrating because most bad localizaitons are things the publisher didn't have to change but they did anyway to stroke their egos. Like spell names in SaGa Frontier already being in English but they decided to make up new names anyway. Or Working Designs making Alundra deal half damage while taking twice as damage just because that was their modus operandi at the time, while lying that they made enemies weaker to compensate, which they didn't.
Most localizers are egotistical failed artists and think they know better than the original creators.

I play SD Gundam G Generation F just fine and that game is really text heavy, but you figure out what the moon symbols mean eventually so you can assemble and deploy your units. And then I already know the story of all the series in the game, so actual plot doesn't matter either.
