How come nobody really talks about it, /vr/?
I finished D1 a few days ago and am halfway through D2, I'm having a blast. It's about the closest thing to a three-dimensional shmup.
Is it the complex level design and the (not required, but pretty beneficial) use of a joystick that turns people off?

Used to play it a lot on Kali, was on the Descent ladder in the 90s. What always bothered me about single player was how one had to play conservative. Pop out, take some shots and get back into cover. I just want to go through the level blasting everything, but that'll get you killed. Don't say git gud cause I was good.
