I'd say it's more luck. I also think it depends on your location. Way more common out on the west coast. I live in New England and spent over a year calling and visiting local TV stations and studios to see if they had any to get rid of. This was about a decade ago and even then they had already trashed them. I tried pawn shops, estate sales, and I went to a surplus auction for a video/photo warehouse. Saw lots of cool shit, but no RGB monitors. Even had a friend who worked at local hospitals see if they had a stock of medical RGB CRTs stashed somewhere, but they, too, were long gone.

Eventually I found mine, for free, on craigslist, but it was total luck. I just happened to be browsing one morning while at work and caught a listing mere minutes after it went up from some guy with a privately-owned video editing company who only had the one monitor and hadn't used it in years. If you happen to live in an area that has some waiting to be unearthed, then yes, you can find cheap ones with a bit of hard work, but if they're not there, you won't find shit and you need to just hope to get lucky.

Several threads ago some sperg acted confused that people didn't leave their controllers plugged in and now it's become something hip to nitpick. >I've never understood how people are so rough with their controllers that the thumbsticks get worn down to the nub.
Same. I've still got my gamecube controllers from launch. Untold hours of Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Party were played on them. I took them apart and cleaned them up a few years ago and they all work like new. Same goes for my N64 controllers. They're all in tip-top shape, except for my oldest gray one, which, coincidentally, is the one I brought to a Smash Bros tournament some 19 years ago and let a ton of other people use for the whole weekend. When it came back to me, the stick was all fucked up, after just two days. By comparison, the atomic purple one that also came with my N64 is in mint condition, and I personally have used that one way more than the gray one.

At the end of the day, most of this shit is all down to the people using the equipment. There are plenty of retards out there who treat their stuff like garbage, and then think they're imparting you with some kind of divine wisdom when they tell you not to do what they did. I'm half-convinced that this whole "Joy-Con drift" lawsuit is more of the same crap because I've had switch joycons since launch that have never "drifted" on me once.

I dragged the 32 by myself, and it was honestly easier just because I didn't have to try and communicate with some other fuckwit what I wanted him to do. After I got rid of both of those, I swore I'd never go bigger than 27, especially as just a retro/secondary battlestation.

The camera does it no justice, but its a 2005 model that has all the clarity of a 1995 set. The s-video looks incredible on it. It is warm & soft with very faint scan lines. My 8 year old camera phone doesn't do it justice. The one thing that this tv has that blows my mind is the stereo sound. It has the best set sound I have ever heard. The bogus crap like "Simulated surround" actually works when you sit in front of it. Good bass. Its an exceptional package, and it does not excel at everything, but does most things well.

>Very nice! I don’t see people use those sort of buttons and sticks anymore for Fight sticks in my community, so they are very nostalgic and the stripes are dope.
I know the general community loves sanwa, and I respect that. I grew up in an american arcade, and the suzo-happ were the ones they had on every unit. I don't even dispute that sanwa are better, just because that is a horrible discussion to get into (Glock vs 1911/Sanwa vs Happ/Coke vs Pepsi). I love it, and anyone who doesn't is still good with me. The "artwork" is just a printed sheet of paper under the plexiglass, and I had to make it all in photoshop. It was very simple, but it took a while for perfection because I am an autist about art. They came out really well with a very dark stain, and are almost piano black. You can still see the wood grain, but it doesn't show on photos because of how reflective the finish is. Thanks anon!

Big water changes & a bit of carbon usually fix that pretty quickly (months). I battled algae of various kinds for 2 years, and after that it seems to be impossible for it to grow now. I am past 5 years setup, and its been through many changes over the years. This is a photo prior to my crash December last year. Why am I posting this here? based desk console gamers

when i was a kid (i'm 33 so this was early 90s and getting close to the end of the NES's run), i was the only one in the neighborhood who had their tv and console on top of a desk. everybody else played in the living room on the floor.

like, don't your feet fall to sleep? who wants to sit on the fucking nasty floor? my mom was ocd, and i still wouldn't want to sit on her floors. seems uncomfortable af. i want to be eye level, upright, a few inches away. pause the game, lay the controller down on the table, push the chair out, go piss, come back.

>> No.5777360

>>5777352
You must have been a pretty fat and unhealthy kid if sitting on the floor made you uncomfortable. Also, my friends and I didn't generally play for very long. We also did other stuff, like going outside. If you're sitting on the floor long enough for your feet to fall asleep, you probably were spending too much time playing games.

I don't understand how your feet would fall asleep sitting on a floor. Furthermore, maybe you have a different idea of clean, but for me the floors have never been particularly dirty. I've done proper cleaning or it's been done for me in my parent's house. I feel like the bigger question is what kind of floors did you have, or maybe, what does your home culture think about floors, the ground, or even feet? Your concerns seem over the top to me, but where I'm from, the floor is not considered an inherently dirty place. Maybe it is for you?

Alternatively, did you not play much multiplayer? It's rather difficult to play with people all crowded around one desk compared to sitting on the floor, especially if you (like me) had a small desk growing up on account of having a small room and not being expected to do engrossing work.

What I'm getting at is you probably need to clarify your situation, all you're presenting right now is just flat judgment without much real reference point, so we can't much empathize with you and more just think you're being a dumbass.

Based retard. Playing video games at a desk just sounds autistic. Not all of us were fat shut-ins that got mommy to buy us a separate TV and desk just so we could play games while she brings us tendies.

When we got our NES is the late '80s, my mom actually bought us a new 20-inch Mitsubishi monitor and a computer desk to use with it. It was nice to have a dedicated setup for games so I didn't have to wait until the TV was free and I could play whenever I wanted, but honestly I always thought I'd rather hook it up to the TV in the living room and play on the bigger screen with the better sound system in the room with all the comfy furniture. Whenever my parents were out of the house for a while, my brother and I would always take the NES off the desk and hook it up in the living room.

It makes more sense to play at a desk now with a small CRT. I don't see anyone here with CRT's big enough for couch gaming.

I also don't see anyone here with their CRT in front of a couch, so I don't know what point you're trying to make.

I meant for living room gaming which is what you were referring to.

i wouldn't know if it made me uncomfortable or my feet fall sleep. can't you read? i played at a desk. such a weird response.

>>5777437
we took our shoves off before entering the house, and my mom would always say "get off that damn floor" whenever i'd play on the floor. to this day, i think of the floor the same way i imagine most people think of a sidewalk or gutter or whatever. if its all you have, then go for it, but given a choice, why put the tv six feet from the couch so that it looks like it's just barely a foot across in your field of view. put it on a desk, and you damn near have to turn your head for some games to follow your character

>not having a rich mommy to buy you a dedicated television and make you tendies
shiggy

>>5777497
ah, see i can almost relate to that. at one point we got one of those big screens you're not "supposed" to connect consoles to. took up damn near an entire wall and was like a foot deep. i always wondered what it would look like to play on a tv that big.

one day i went to see a movie and i was in there all alone. it was really dark and quiet, and it reminded me of sitting in bed with my laptop. with my laptop that close to my face and no frame of reference (my room was almost pitch black), it was like sitting in front of a movie screen, if that makes sense. it's like those VR movie theater screens. the screen is an inch from your eyeballs, but it looks like you're an empty room. pop in some earbuds and even the sound seems surround

You can't possibly have enough throw distance for that CRT projector.

that's what the blackout blind is for
>>5764486
yea that setup was deff a little messy and cluttered especially because of that fucking turtle. I used to always throw on music or tv while playing melee.
>>5766914
i try to keep nicknacks to a minimum since i have so little fucking space in here. that was just in the middle of changing my setup around. it always looks like a bomb went off when im switching things around

hell yea that was one of the sexiest setups i had. but it was really only good for me since my bed was at the other end of the tv. made for a great gaming setup or netflix viewing before falling asleep. I loved it but it just wasn't optimal.

thanks, nice eye. i got it for free with 30 disks and it works fine aside from some dirty discs and needing a new stylus cartridge.

i can and do, went by the throw distance chart from the manual. it's like 8' away, so i'm not sure how far you think a projector really needs to be.

We had chairs and TVs high enough on stands that we didn't sit on the floor.
But I like desk setups too.
