How many of you actually put some time on SB3? It has no story mode so that's off-putting for someone who wants single-player, but I think it's really good, in some regards, better than Butoden 2 (although in some other regards, inferior to it, besides not having story mode). Still definitely among the best retro fighting games.

Dragon Ball Z: Attack of the Saiyans on Nintendo DS.

fuck no.

dragonball is one of the few shonen series where making it a fighting game doesn't feel lazy.

I love the DBZ RPGs (especially the Famicom ones, as well as the Super Gokuuden which have RPG battles), but Dragon Ball definitely works as a fighting game and games like Super Butoden 2 have proven this. Both Butoden and non-retro wise Tenkaichi got the DBZ dynamics pretty on point, on 2D and 3D respectively. It's one of the main reasons these games are still loved to this day.

I messed around so much with the rom with the debug mode when I was a kid, it's just a shame it never got a proper translation. I didn't find out about the first Gokuden until a few years later, and it actually suprised me how much cleaner the UI looked compared to Gokuden 2.

>> No.5708009

I have no fav, but a couple of favorites. Just retro,DBZ The Legend/Legends, both Gokuden, HDimension, Butoden 2 and 3, Densetsu

Since they couldnt do anything with the story at that point they should had also added Butoden 2's roster and fucking Freeza.

A "definitive" Butoden with all characters from the 3 games would be a blast.
Anyway, I kind of like how weird the Butoden rosters are. The fact they were working with what was currently being aired on TV/manga and had to stick to it makes for some particular rosters.

It blows my mind how - after the success of LoG2 and Buu's Fury - they went, "Hey. Lets shift gears and make a shitty side-scroller" instead.
