If Dracula had managed to kill off the Belmont bloodline, what would he do next?
What were his long term plans and ultimate goal?

If you mean before the SotN ret-cons, he wanted to make "a bad world filled with evil", nothing more.

I wouldn't think of Dracula as having any type of grand plan. In the Classicvanias, it would seem he has an almost animalistic mind, or maybe he's like a parasite (he is a bloodsucker of course), and it's stated he is a manifestation of mankind's sins. A virus in your body is only motivated to survive, and it doesn't grasp the concept of survival so much as go about it with single-minded instinct, and I feel that Dracula is similar, a sickness afflicting the world of mankind which doesn't "want" to destroy everything but does because it is destructive by nature. SotN onward characterizes him as a tragic figure who is lashing out at the world in constant pain due to the loss of his wife. I like the former better because it's cool to think about evil itself manifesting as a long dead eastern european warlord whose thirst for blood is symbolic of the thirst he had in life for power and domination, which all humans possess in some way and accounts for much of the misery in the world.

I don't know, exist? The Belmonts keep trying to kill him so naturally he's trying to kill them back. Maybe he wants to just live in his gothic castle and hide his wall meats.

Threadly reminder about Curse of Man and this amazing akamatsu interview, essential read for CV lore fans
http://shmuplations.com/castlevania/
>In the original Castlevania, I asked Akamatsu about why Dracula’s head flies off when you defeat the first phase of the boss fight. He said, “The head there? It’s foreshadowing Dracula’s resurrection.”
>The fight with Dracula. The second form is actually not Dracula, according to Akamatsu, but an embodiment of 人の呪い (hito no noroi, “curse of man”)
>Likewise, when the body parts scatter in every direction, that was also meant to show that Dracula will come back. Actually, the second monstrous form you fight was meant to be an “incarnation of the curse of man”, not Dracula himself. That’s why when Simon defeats him, he gets cursed. Like most people, I thought that was just a powered-up monster form of Dracula, and I joked as much in front of Akamatsu one day. He completely refuted that idea though. (laughs) “That is a monster borne from the curse of man.” He added, “In a truly peaceful age, Dracula would not exist.” 2
>Akamatsu also explained to me how the rotating gears in Dracula’s castle represent Dracula’s heart. They turn so long as Dracula is alive. That’s why, in the ending of Castlevania, the clock tower collapses, but the rest of the castle remains—Akamatsu said he intended that as a hint towards a sequel. It’s sort of his nod to horror movies, I think.

The novel is canon, so read that. Dracula is a bored narcissist who wants to take over human empires to remind them all how important he was, he's angry that hes been forgotten. In the book when he meets Harker he rambles about his bloodline and accomplishments for ages

I like that Dracula is only harmed by headshots in the game, that's accurate. In the novel Jonathan scars his forehead with a shovel, but a sailors stabs him in the back and it phases through him like air. I also like how the anime established that spear & axe knights are lesser vampires, because I always wondered about that. I used to assume they were his Romani and Slovak servants from the novel.

I don't disagree, I just prefer the former a little more. SotN was my first CV back in 1997-1998, so its story is still very dear to me, but the main reason why I shy away from too much development of the characters is because then you get that fucking awful turd of an anime that Netflix made. The people who made that completely fucked it up. Castlevania is like Star Wars for me, if other people are fleshing it out too much, I find they just fuck it up in general.

>> No.5651372

>>5650980
In the book he just wanted to get his fix and ruin the world because he was a virus-like asshole. He only rambled about his bloodline because he still had the arrogance of the actual person he was made from. In Stoker's novel the vampires aren't actually the people they're made out of, hence the distinctions in Lucy's behavior and the peaceful faces left behind when a vampire is destroyed.

I don't recall the part about a sailor stabbing him in the back, but Dracula likely knew that guy was approaching. Harker attacked Dracula while he was almost reverted to a normal corpse in a box, and Quincy later stabs Dracula in the heart. Also, I figured the knights were just empty suits of armor, a Horror staple and a reminder that he no longer has a proper army.
