Personally I think Octopus is the most beautiful one out there, but I have the most fun with Donkey Kong Jr.

I had this one as a kid and also used it as an alarm clock. It even had hidden mushrooms like the NES game.

I also had a Legend of Zelda one, I think it was a clamshell design.

that's fine. I'd say the gallery's have their place here too since they are basically rereleases with minimal alterations. I consider them one of the best ways to decide whether or not you like one game or another, and recomend to anyone looking to buy one to try it out on one of those games first. Especially since http://pica-pic.com/ doesn't have all of them (or many of them for that matter.)

>>5467485
I think that one was actually one of the few to have a mute feature. I might be thinking of mario bros though. Sky blue was a strange choice of color if you ask me, but as long as it's a polished surface it's fine with me.

Here's my Donkey Kong Jr. I got it for a little over $60 shipped because the "sound didn't work". I opened it up and the cords were ripped from the speaker. Quick soldering fixed it right up and it was good as new.
Little tip for all of you buyers out there; when it comes to buying a game & watch, value is skin deep. The only common internal issue I've ever come accross that can't be completely repaired or reasonably replaced is screen bleed. So value is in the case not the board.
Now if only I wasn't poor so I could afford a table top or panorama g&w.

looks like a bit of screen bleed. Maybe a weakened polarizer and a dirty stage/reflector. if you open it up and clean the stage and reflector if might be a bit clearer. The polarizer you'd have to replace, and the lcd screen can't be truely fixed but you might be able to minimize the bleed by sqceezing the lcd aroudn the affected area and moving the bleed around or out of the lcd. G&W lcd are raised though so idk how safe that would be.

I can understand that. just know that they are resoundingly sturdy everywhere except for maybe the lcd screen. If you do work up the confidence I recommend rinsing the stage and polarizer off gently with your fingers, and maybe wiping down the reflector with a damp cloth. Then just take some rubbing alcohol and wipe down the button contacts and the buttons themselves. These are maintenance routines that are almost impossible to fuck up. The board rub down will make all controls much more responsive, and the stage obviously just becomes less dirty.

>> No.5471326

>>5471256
It's not a matter of knowing what you're doing, it's a matter of physics and the way polarisers work. Buy a random sheet of film? It may need to be rotated 45 degrees in order to work on your g&w lcd., That means a lot of wasted material when you cut it to size.

I spent nearly two decades working in the photographic industry btw so I have more knowledge of polarisers than you give me credit for.

Sorry sport, it's all about knowing what you're doing. But since you don't you can't even comprehend what that means. Buy a random sheet of film? Nope. I buy a roll of exactly what I need. If you buy a sheet of polarizing film you might have to rotate it for maximum contrast. Whether you rotate the film or not, you still have to trim it and create waste. You claim you have a way of doing it without waste... in other words, you know a place to buy polarizing film in any dimension and with the correct polarization. Wow! Mind sharing a link? Sounds useful.

I designed LCD games in the 80's and early 90's. We made no effort to "recreate the original game as close as possible". It was all about shitting out cheap shit for poorfags. More detailed designs were regularly scrapped and scaled down to fit on a cheaper part. This did require quite a bit of skill on the part of the lcd mask designers and coders but this was all to save a few pennies. I actually designed a couple games for Sanyo parts that had actual sound channels. Both were redone on Sharp parts with pong tier two tone capabilities to save a few pennies. None of my games ever made it to production with the two channel tracker sound as the developer originally intended.
