I've never understood how those get lost. About half the time or more that I've encounter an N64 in the wild, the cover was gone. You really only ever need to open it once, unless you want to play Space Station Silicon Valley.

I was playing Turok for the first time for the past 2 hours.

Fun game. Though the controls took some time to tweak. I find that setting it to left hand mode, and setting vertical speed to its lowest value is the most optimal.

Shame look inversion cant be turned off. I'm a person, not an airplane.

But yeah, good game so far. I just dont understand why it dumped so many weapons on my in stage 1. But I got all 6 keys and now I'm on stage 2.

Every fighting game on the Saturn is arcade-perfect. N64 fighting games were AIDs.

Saturn has so many more 2D platformers which are beautiful as fuck.

Saturn actually has lightgun games.

Just because it's similar to mame doesn't mean it's that good or a reason to hate other system.
I really like Rakuga kids, Smash bros, MK4, Killer instinct 2, WWF: No mercy, Mace and Fighter's Destiny 2, they were rad as fuck dude.
To this day I found myself playing and discovering a lot of tricks in smash 64 with friends. There's no similar joy to be cheap as fuck in a game for 4 people.

You're lucky. I tried my N64 on my LCD TV and it was so bad it got me to hunt down and purchase a CRT. Some LCDs handle scaling much better than others. Watch out for muh input lag, though.

My TV doesn't have a game mode, but the problem wasn't input lag it was that it was a blurry, chunky mess of shit upscaling. It looks WAY the fuck better on my CRT just because of that, so it was worth it.

Also it was a fucking shame that Virtua Fighter was dethroned by Tekken and Soul Calibur in a few years.

To me the Sega Saturn was a failure and it didn't represent the core-values of sega like the dreamcast or the awesome Genesis, not even with some good arcade ports or multiplats.

Saturn is the most beta-testing console of all time, doomed since the first day. You don't miss something that marked a generation or even a decade if you skip the Saturn and that's a fact.

Dreamcast is cool tho, much better console.

I was supposed to buy a PlayStation back then, but got dissuaded into getting an N64, partially because our family had a SNES before.
Ocarina of Time is a great fucking game and Super Mario 64 was revolutionary, but they don't make up for the lackluster library, crappy video quality, expensive games and poor availability in my region.
I would have bought a Saturn if I could go back and redo it. I have one now and there's more stuff I like to play there than in the N64.

Respectable opinion, N64 was Nintendo's first system to really be a "Nintendo box" as opposed to the Famicom series and Game Boy, where there was a wide range of software devs on the platform. I grew up with the 64 too, and enjoyed it a lot, but I understand why people feel as they do about it.
