You can easily get emulators for NES, SNES and Gameboy (Color) on your PC if you're just looking for them. Paying for decades old games as some sort of service that you can't use once you stopped paying for it is absolutely stupid dude. At least get some more modern games that support online multiplayer if you really want to keep spending your money on a not-/vr/ console.

why in the fuck would you want that when there are high-quality emulators up the ass on every portable device you could conceivably get your hands? FOR FREE.

Begging Nintendo to temporarily lease you a handful of SNES games in exchange for supporting their online paywall is beyond pathetic, especially considering how ridiculously easy they are to access on your own in the first place.

I used to stan Nintendo specifically for being awesome with the way they handled their retro game re-releases. I got to experience so many games for the first time thanks to virtual console. Thursdays were really exciting for me, waking up and finding out what they added. $20 bucks would net me 2 to 4 games.

Then their next console got released and I was pretty disappointed with how they handled VC. Less consoles, you had to wait for games they already re-released last generation, and when they finally did get there, they wanted you to pay a fee for them. The releases even seemed slower to me.

But the way they're handling it now is flat out insulting. Two releases a month, shitty hacks, one single console, and you have to pay a subscription or you lose your ability to play. There is no option whatsoever to just purchase the games to play on your switch. It's such bullshit. This, right after they set out to destroy rom sites. Fuck Nintendo.

The flood of Link's Awakening threads in relation to the announced remake of it and threads that ALWAYS pop up if some channel on youtube makes a video on it that is toootally coincidence are just a few recent examples.

You pay for them because you have a switch and $5 a month or whatever peanuts it costs is a small price to pay to easilly load them onto your switch and play at your leisure either handheld or on a TV.

The people subscribing to this service don’t care to load up a fucking emulator on a computer to play these games.
