Yeah sure it copied a lot from Resident Evil but it combined that with some more complex elements. Combining the Survival Horror gameplay with RPG elements. You might say that it defeats the point of survival horror, but Aya growing in power from start to finish is a nice feeling. It bridges the gap connecting its mechanics from the first game. My only wish is that it had an upgrade system comparable to the first game.

I would rather do hundreds of battle in a PE game before I dealt with the odd aiming decisions of all the original RE games.

Anyway PE2 is criminally underrated. I love how you can examine every single bit of scenery multiple times and get Aya's thoughts on it. It's a really good way to develop her character.

I'm pretty sure you don't have unlimited ammo, or at least if you want the weak most basic 9mm ammo you have keep running back to the beginning of the level to refill. The other more powerful ammo is not really growing off of trees in the game. That said, I never really once had an ammo problem.

It's understandable why people who loved the first got mad with this one since PE1 was one of the greatest RPGs on the system, and that Dryfield place is boring, especially compared to the places you visit in the first game.

But it's still a great game and the new game plus modes are also awesome.

one of my favorite games

I wish aya didn't look like a soccer mom in it; she looked fine in 1. The in-game models in general were ass. I wish she would change appearance based on what she's wearing (or at least make it optional). I wish it had another area; it's a fairly short game. Neoark is a slugfest IMO, especially near the end, hell, even the shelter is near the end. Most of the puzzles were too hamfisted; they were clearly added in just to have puzzles.

The music is top-tier. The atmosphere is fantastic. The combat is satisfying. The way the game world looks is great; pure ps1 magic. Its story/event weaving is great. I love coca cola. I love how the game uses backtracking so well. I love all the little details when you press action against something, and all the various phone dialogue.

I didn't care for one much, which is a shame because the concept is so neat and it game out right when games were fantastic.

I wish she wasn't so ill dressed for what clearly was a combat oriented operation. Yeah sure during the day in dry-field it's gonna be hot. However you start exploring dry-field at night which would mean it gets extremely cold. I couldn't imagine wanting to expose so much of my thighs in that temperature. The outfit in the beginning of the game (at M.I.S.T. HQ) looked fine. It reminds me of Leon Kennedy's from RE4.

Literally Resident Evil tier puzzles(meaning they're complete wacky nonsense), they all fucking sucked.

The music from the first game is way better, though I didn't mind the music in this game.

I agree with most else of what you said though I do slightly prefer the first game. The graphics and pre rendered backgrounds were topnotch. I'm really salty they didn't bring back hardly anyone from the first game though. Would've been nice to actually meet Maeda again.

I guess I should have said that some of them are ass (the camel enemies, for instance), and sometimes even the good ones are ass (I can't forget kyle walking across the room to aya after aya fought the golem and blacked out; it's so bad)

I just disagree. I've tried to listen to PE1's soundtrack on occasion, and it's just bland and unmemorable. To each their own.

eh, it's the weakest kind of ammo, and you have to backtrack if you run out

if you get the fully auto pistol with the 100 round drum, you run out real quick in the endgame

I get it; it'd be hard (and kinda cool) to have to rely on your remaining PE powers, melee attacks (if any), or just run away from battles when you're out of ammo. Overall though, I think it was a neat idea to have endless ammo crates.

It's kinda weird, on my first run I pretty much made it my mission to kill everything. Unlike in Resident Evil games, PE actually awards you for killing as much as possible and if you run away you lose BP so the game kinda always encourages you to stay in combat. So forcing to run away from battles would be interesting but it would also really suck to keep constantly losing BP and would stunt your exp gain.
