Rare had an unreleased handheld console called the Playboy, based off a homemade arcade board called RAZZ powerful enough to support parallax scrolling and arbitrary tile/sprite sizes. They cancelled it after Nintendo revealed the Game Boy, which was just as well as the system had a tiny battery life.

Two games were in development for it: Fleapit, by the Solar Jetman and Ironsword devs, and an unnamed game by the creator of Head Over Heels.

To be fair to him there are cases of similarly crazy shit being hidden in old N64 games. However the fact that Mario just walked along a path should be a dead giveaway even to someone who hasn't played 64 in a long time.

If there really were some weird placeholder map in the game the way to access it would probably be like teleporting there instead of merely walking to it.

Honestly, I think Mario should do the right thing. Bowser has been terrorizing the mushroom kingdrom for years and years, causing thousands of deaths and even enslaving entire races to do his bidding. Mario has seen it all, he has seen the crimes Bowser commits, even against his own wife, yet he does nothing.

Doing nothing to stop it is just as bad as doing it yourself.

The boos laughing sound uses a randomizer to slightly adjust the pitch between 175%-225%. In this range, you hear the normal boo laugh

The slowed down version (50%) is bowser's laugh

however, there's a rare chance/glitch that you will hear a boo's laugh not pitched up at all and you will hear the "normal" (100%) speed which is between boo and bowser This is a human-like laugh and very creepy.

note: the % numbers are just estimated to make this easier to understand

>Got Metal Warriors from a friend
>Being the dumb fucking kid that I was, couldn't even come close to pass the third level.
>Basically spent my time fucking around in versus mode with my sister.
>Sister is also a dumb fucking kid, so she cries when I beat her.
>Since I still want her to play with me, we decide to play 'House'.
>Like, a crevice or cave in one of the stages was my house, and she looked for another one and did hers.
>We pretended the Mechs were our cars.
>Actually had WAY more fun than just shooting shit.

Mickey and Donald Magica Adventure 03
>be in that stage where you have to climb using balloons until you get to Pete's Ship
>In the end of the First room, there was a door that could be open and closed
>sis and I decided that it was our home.
>Change clothes for School, Casual and Party (Lumberjack, Knight and Magic, respectively)
>Never ever finished that damn game while as a child.

Breath of Fire 2
>Playing by myself since duuh, an rpg game
>Bored out of my ass
>Start pretending the characters are people that I knew
>I was Ryu, obviously, Sten was my cousin, Rand was my older bigger cousin, Katt was my crush, Nina was another cousin of mine, Jean was nobody since he was trash, Mushroom Girl Spar was my sis, Bleu was my mother (Don't ask), Bow was my best friend.
>The whole game got a billions times more interesting sine I didn't want my bros to die or be hurt on batlle.
>Except Jean

Super mario Kart
>Can't beat anything other than 50cc
>Sis is still a dumb fucking cunt
>We now pretend to be traveling on our cars, instead of racing.
>Stoping to fuel and etc.
>Our family's farm that had a pool was Koopa Beach
>The shitty roads from our house to our farm was Yoshi's Island
>The nice Highway was Mario Circuit
>After sis got bored of this, i decided to go single player
>Started a whole story of me driving around the world
>Ended up on Bowser's Circuit (the center of the earth in my mind

(cont..I am sorry /vr/, I just can't share this shit with anyone real).

Super Mario Kart
>I was Luigi. Sis was Toad (go figure).

Stunt Race FX
>game is hard as balls
>can't even beat first fucking race.
>Go to Time Attack
>The very first circuit has a house in it.
>It's my house now.
>Go around 'running errands' or just joyriding around.
>Now the game is much better

Gran Turismo 2
>Be a little older now (About 14)
>Can't be playing around with houses and shit since I am not a faggot
>Pretend I am this badass racer that has a whole secret identity and just pretends to be a highschool student
>Whenever I lose a race, I make up a story that the winner was actually cheating
>the cringe is still palpable for me

Link to the Past
>Can't possibly even hope to beat that fucking Tower of Hera
>Stilll Love the game to death.
>I just keep fucking around at Kakariko Town, since that fucking place is the comfiest place in the whole macrocosmos (fuck those snitchers)
>Pretend I have a 'job' as a trash man.
>Cutting bushes and finding money: that was actually the 'mayor' paying me for cleaning the streets
>Had a whole love story with one of the girl npc.
>Since I was poor in game, I couldn't even afford to live in kakariko and lived on the suburbs.

Now thinking back, I really trully believe I had some form of Autism.

You're not alone but I've always speculated I have autism so I can't really help you out in that regard. I mentioned Diddy Kong Racing earlier, the Frosty Village stage has those comfy houses and a shortcut that is really only useful if you're in a hovercraft but it's a little cave in the corner so it made for a nice swimming pool because if you drive in there with a car you can only see the top of your character. It was fun to discover places like this across the courses. When you think about it it's only possible because they had the foresight to actually put in these little details that you could only notice if you actively went way off the track. So it really shows how much care went into these games.

And you know, I never did unlock Future Fun Land because I just wasn't good enough back then. I wonder if that place has any interesting stuff like that. Someday I'll play the game again and find out.

The music for the first stage of I'm Kid Dracula is a happy-style remake of the music for the first stage of Castlevania 3.

Jenny Stigel (sp?) voiced Lucia, Ruby and Luna in Lunar 2 for Sega CD. This means that whenever Lucia and Ruby had a conversation, she was basically just talking to herself. If you don't believe me, find a L2SCD video on Youtube that either has Ruby or Lucia speaking. Warp the pitch, downward for Ruby, upward for Lucia; you'll see that the voice is exactly the same.

Batman: Revenge of the Joker had a SNES version that went unreleased, leaving only the Genesis version

Timecop for the SNES had a Sega-CD version. Outside of some insignificant FMVs and CD-quality audio, it is the same.

Evolution: The World of Sacred Device for the Sega Dreamcast was originally created for the Sega Saturn (much like Sting's other console game, Baroque). The game was shown off in Sega Saturn magazine and certain minor design differences suggest that the FMVs in the final game are from that period.

It's nothing huge, but it goes to show how "hard set" video game rules are usually wrong or at least can be wrong. OK, so this is the official line from the "Zelda community":
>"In Ocarina of Time, Link can only use the regular lure to catch fish since Sinking Lures are strictly prohibited and will grant the Fishing Hole Man the right to deny the young hero a prize.[7] Because of this, the Sinking Lure does not appear in the past until young Link has obtained the Piece of Heart"

Link can get the sinking lure at any time, even the first time he sets foot inside the fishing pond. He can even get the gold scale before he goes back in time, that it probably the hardest feat in the game, getting a 13-pounder as a child. Anyway, you can easily get Link to find that lure the first time, but most people think it's just in four spots, while it's possibly anywhere along the grass too, even right next to the guy's desk sometimes.

Pure speculation here, but did anyone else find this particular face an odd-enough choice for the mirror shield’s design that it seems like an intentional message by the developers?

In OoT, the mirror shield is too big for kid Link, so it makes sense to some degree to design a newly proportioned one for his younger self, fair enough. But why give it, and the Happy Mask Salesman’s mask, and Link’s transformation sequences all the same tortured expression?

My thought is that this is supposed to represent the player, somehow; it is the MIRROR shield, after all. I think this face is supposed to represent you, the player, because it’s what you see when the camera is looking at it.

What, then, does that mean about Link during mid-transformation, or the unnamed mask on the Salesman’s backpack?

Scratching the surface? If you disassemble a game, there is no other data that can exist. Where does this "hidden stuff" come from? Magic?
I mean, a CD can have hidden sectors, you're right about that, but I don't know of any case where a developer would've purposefully crafted a hidden sector just to hide a video stream because muh data miners (and I've hacked a whole bunch of PSX games, but still...)

No, sorry, but I can tell you how to find it. I hesitate because it truly sounds like made-up bullshit because it's just so punishing and potentially dangerous to pull off. It involves beating the game flawlessly a ridiculous, but very specif amount of times. The location? He's in 1-2. There's a map that show a specific route that Mario(or Luigi) must follow and the coins need to be collected and if done correctly, you can phase through the coral at the end and then finally through the wall. I don't exactly know, but I have an idea. Since it has to be unlocked and since you're not finding data beyond it (I do not doubt you) I'd say that somehow they designed the game to repeat certain parts of the game in way, like shuffling parts around. They did explain it back in the day, Nintendo did, I mean. The thing is, inside Bowser's room, the blocks aren't blocks, they are they are the underwater blocks, just like the ones from 2-2/-1;et al.

To find him, you have to beat the game-continuously-without dying, warping or taking shortcuts, 360 fucking times. If would not believe it myself if I didn't see it and read it from the experts. Believe it or not, more than a few people pulled it off in the early '90s.

Oh and then when one finally beats the game for the 360th time in a row, Mario can find Donkey Kong at that spot in level 1-2 that always glitches when one is tearing through that specific spot. Look man, I'm gonna be honest with you.
Your efforts of trying to "stop these things from being lost to time" dont mean anything. The game has already been preserved in its ultimate form.
The disassembly is the entire game. It is it's source code. It is its every function, pointer and piece of data, chr and prg.

If I show you a file that is exactly four bytes: $00, $01, $02, $03, would you believe me if I said that there's a byte with a value of $72 in the file? You would check it out and prove me wrong. I could try to argue that the fifth byte is "hidden" somehow, but that is literally impossible. The file size is four bytes and you've checked them all out one by one.

The same applies to smb. The game is the ROM and the ROM is the game, and every single piece of the data has been mapped.

Donkey Kong or any other bullshit is not and CAN NOT be in the game.

Sagan ruled. And yeah, I'll have to provide a clear unedited video showing how to do it and then after that another person with verified copies of the system and game will have to do it. Otherwise if no one else can do it, of course people would say it's fake. However, it can be pulled off with any real SMB cart (not sure on the ROM, but I suspect so) making it a matter of "who's got a copy?" I could even open a sealed cart if I have to. Honestly, you sound like you've consumed way too many psychedelics. That, or you deal with too many children and want to treat everyone that way. That's not exactly true. Some people really don't like being tricked, strung along, and played with. That is a completely valid reason to be quite miffed.

I'm fairly sure that most of us have dealt with enough stupid rumors, true or (more often) otherwise, as children to the point we're incredibly tired of them.

If you want to blow your time on it then fine. Have fun with your game like a child with a rumor.
But there is no possible way you're convincing anyone here that it's true without hard proof such as addresses. An editable video of a modifiable cart/console won't do.
There's plenty of other videos for other rumors, like MewTruck and whatnot. Though that's possible with an SRAM virus now.

Sagan was conveying the "feeling" of extraordinary evidence, in that something that's easy to understand and beyond the shadow of a doubt acts as proof of a the claim, something anyone can accept, is required to exceptionally prove extraordinary claims.
That meaning is easily understandable. The feeling is arguably correct.
However, the wording is literally wrong. Evidence is evidence. Normal evidence would prove an extraordinary claim fine, as long as it genuinely is evidence. Unless you're trying to prove it to an imbecile who acts on feeling alone who refuses to accept evidence. Like flat earthers, or rumorfags.
So it's only "not bullshit" within the context of other bullshit, thus it's bullshit.

Sagan perfectly explained that truly fantastic claims need fantastic evidence. For example, just posting a capture video of the gameplay itself will be insufficient evidence in this case, where for most other games, it's sufficient. The view of the system being played by myself and a check of of the cart's PCB will also have to be shown to even stand a chance at being recognized as legitimate.

Insufficient evidence means lacking in evidence. Otherwise worded as "not enough to be considered evidence", thus not evidence.
Even full on recording everything including a check of the PCB would arguably be insufficient, as that still relies on faith that all involved have not modified anything. Hell, the console itself could be replaced with an emulator and just have an unusable slot for the game to sit in. Better record that too.

If it were definitely reproducible, demonstrably so, then you might have a point. That would actually be evidence.
Not extraordinary evidence, just enough evidence to be considered evidence in the first place.
But right now all you've got is some unverifiable memories, conveniently lost ``magazines'' that were ``exclusive to members'', and hot air.
It's nothing but a rumor, and you're expecting others to blindly believe it because you somehow understand. You've had some kind of revelation and others are clearly in the wrong because they just don't get it.

>> No.5340025

>>5339994
>Insufficient evidence means lacking in evidence. Otherwise worded as "not enough to be considered evidence", thus not evidence.
Still don't comprende. Ok, the extraordinary evidence are all the redundant checks...because the claim is literally fantastic. It's arguably the most popular Nintendo game of all-time and it manages to hold secrets from most to this very day, apparently. This isn't like I'm claiming that if you beat the game once and press reset 10 times you'll get to play as the Princess(totally untrue) because that claim is very simplistic and easy to debunk, while the other claim is vastly complex in its execution and in its fact-checking.

>> No.5340059

>>5340025
I comprehend. It is just plain wrong.
Evidence either is evidence or is not evidence. That there needs to be more of it to make it valid still does not make it anything more than evidence.

As it stands, your claim is challenged by a full byte for byte disassembly of the game, with no pointer existing in the code to access the coins value for that Super Mode bullshit, no 2byte value to count up to 360 wins without deaths, no DK sprite in the CHR bank.
For your claims to be true, the game would have to procedurally generate the sprite with code rather than reading it and write it to RAM somewhere (Where?), then also generate the code itself procedurally to keep track of wins, and run that.
That's a LOT of fucking work for an easter egg that no one would ever find. If it's even feasible in the first place. I'm not sure if NES can execute procedurally generated code, or if there's even enough RAM to do so.

Regardless, you simply need more evidence to prove this existing evidence false. That doesn't make the necessary evidence extraordinary, it's still just evidence. There's just a LOT more that you'd need to disprove to even have it considered valid in the first place.

And apparently according to you all that existing evidence is all absolutely wrong, because it's everyone else that doesn't understand instead of you. You know best, of course.
As NES MUST be more advanced than others believe, simply because your claim MUST be true, thus it's magic rather than just technology.
Do you understand how maddening that logic is? How genuinely frustrating it is?

That saying is most commonly used by people with extraordinary claims, to refuse evidence against them on the basis it's somehow not extraordinary.
A defence mechanism to prevent evidence from demotivating them. For better or worse.
Which is quite fitting and even useful, I guess.

I just wish more people would take it as a sign they need more evidence themselves first and foremost, before actually trying to convince others of their claims.
