Is this game worth playing?

My friend and I were looking for some cool stuff to play co-op.. and somehow I stumbled upon this. The idea of playing an old Gamecube game online with on my CRT really floats my boat... but I'd have to buy a copy of the game, and buy another Wii and hack it for my friend. Is the gameplay actually worth it?

If you wanna play online and have a PC available, I'd strongly recommend you go for Blue Burst, on one of the big private servers like Ultima or Ephinea. If you just want it for couch co-op then Eps 1&2 will do since it has an Offline mode. Pretty sure Schtserv is available there as well if you wanna set your GameCube up for it.

And yes, it's totally worth it. The game kept its status as a cult classic over the years, so you'll always find at least a few people online in the private servers.

Are you this entitled you think you can morph a board's rules to your own liking?
Just post this on /v/

Not him but a port does not make it retro retard. Technically he can only talk about the dreamcast game. If that is useful for what he wants to do fair enough.

I think the Dreamcast and Blue Burst servers are the ones with the most following. I didn't even know that the Gamecube server was brought back. I was gonna get it for my Xbox 360 but its not backwards compatible, and I dont have a GC or DC and I dont wanna play it on a modern PC.

You mean on the Gamecube, when a living private server for PSOBB exist? No, not at all.
PSO in general: yes.

This game really did scratch an itch with me for a while, but eventually poor inventory management and menu controls wore me down. Also, if you go online on a private server, and play with randoms, you'll probably get free shit that will be the best stuff you'll use for a long time. Seems cool at first smashing thru stuff but then you just kind of want to find something, anything, that you can actually use and have that feeling of satisfaction.

Compulsory story
>lend the game to my buddy so he can play with his little brother
>fixed income, gov't housing etc, no other games
>go back in about a month to pick up the game
>they have 325. fucking. hours. on a save file.
>they've been playing close to 10 hours per day
I hope it curbed some possibly more dangerous addictions.

Phantasy Star Online supports 480p, so it will look better on a HD screen than a CRT.
