Unironically the best CV (Castlevania) game.

Mike Matei has a 1cc on the America version, that's incredible!

To be fair Mike Matei is a pro gamer.

I can only wish one day I'll become as awesome as Mike Matei.

I don't know if this is a suitable Castlevania thread, but I'll ask anyway.

I played some of the ds rpgs, but I really want to get into classicvania. The two that I want to start with that sound coolest are Rondo (everyone says its awesome) and CV3 (i like the multiple characters thing) and then even though it's not classicvania I'll probably play SOTN because I never have.

Getting CV3 and SOTN will be easy, but where the fuck do I get Rondo with emuparadise down? I don't want to play the remake, and apparently the version included with the remake has audio/slowdown issues.

Also, if there's any advice for those games, I'll gladly accept it. I know very little.

IIRC there's a fan translated version of the game that requires no emulator what-so-ever.
Also play Super Castlevania 4, perfect CV game for beginners such as yourself.

>IIRC there's a fan translated version of the game that requires no emulator what-so-ever.

That sounds pretty damn great.

>Super Castlevania 4, perfect CV game for beginners such as yourself.

Isn't that a lower rated one amongst fans? I play lots of old difficult games, I don't mind jumping into the deep end. Rondo seems very widely regarded as an excellent game, and I figure playing that and SOTN back to back will be fun, I just don't want the emulation issues present in the upcoming ps4 collection.

>Isn't that a lower rated one amongst fans?
Nah, that's contrarians. Rondo also gets some flak here for being on the easy side and having anime cutscenes.
The reality is that Castlevania games are all good except a few ones like the one in the OP.
If you want to get into Castlevania for the first time, though, start with the original.

What did the developers mean by the protagonist's walk animation looking like he's massively constipated and holding his stomach?

Rondo is on a bunch of e-shops in translated form. The PSP rerelease also includes a translated version of the original which afaik is pretty faithful.

In any case, just google around if you don't feel like paying for it. It's everywhere.

Play the original. It's classicvania in the purest form and as you play through the other games you'll appreciate all the changes, references, and music. Also don't miss Bloodlines (the Genesis one).

>>5120915
If you want to buy it, the untranslated Rondo is on the Wii/WiiU VC, as well as now on PS4 with Castlevania Requiem (comes with SOTN).

CV3 is hard as fuck, especially the US release. If you've never played a classicvania, Play Super 4, Rondo, or The Adventure REbirth (Wii) first. They're the most simple and easy to get into.

Too bad the PC Engine didn't have L/R buttons, when I finally got used to throwing subweapons that way, it seriously fucked me up to go back to the classic way of throwing.

It's not really hard.

>> No.5123745

>>5123725
It's not the hardest but it's not to be overlooked because of being "easy" since it's not really easier than the other 16 bit ones, and arguably not easier than CV1 (other than Death without holy water).

Bunch of sites here:

It's still easy to find most No-Intro romsets on the internet archive, don't know about Nintendo though:
