Miyamoto-chan, why are you recording my lines first?

It might be easier this way. we suspect you've been shitposting on /v/ giving away leaks to the public. my nintendo shills have been watching the board very carefully. certain things gave you away. you got sloppy. I do not know what to do with you.

>> No.5085079

I think Nintendo have enough "yah!" "yeehee" and "yaHOO" voice samples to never need to pay this guy ever again

>Charles Martinet will die in our lifetimes
>one might not even notice it from new game releases alone
Should that make me happy or sad?

>> No.5085085

Friendly reminder that Charles Martinet is a legitimately great voice actor outside of bing bing wahoo

I heard that he was gay. Is it true?

Here's where he says it.

Now, that I rewatched it, maybe he was just quoting his fans.

I was gonna say, they have enough voice clips to use for the rest of time. (if they keep their attitude towards voice acting, which they will)

Eh, when you're an older guy and gay it's fairly likely that you weren't comfortable coming out in your prime, or around then.

Could've had kids before he found himself.

He is playing a role though. A tangible subject that people can have at conventions to meet and greet. He doesn't just VA, he does 50+ events a year.

Also he does the voicework for far more than just Mario under the Mario umbrella of characters.

>> No.5085428

>>5085079
That and his voice-samples have been dogshit for at least like 10 years or more now. He's gotten more and more high-pitched and tinny or something. Compare the way Mario sounds in Mario 64 and Sunshine to how he sounds in one of the various NSMB or 3D world/land/whatever now. Before he sounded like a goofy italian stereotype. Now mario sounds like a eunuch

This is totally not retro but have you heard Martinet outside Mario?

He voices Paarthunar in Skyrim and his voice is incredible.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXkEGU7bJzA

He also voices an antagonist in Resonance of Fate and is equally good.

Yep, I'll be meeting him in about 4 weeks at RetroGameCon!

His Mario went to shit long ago but his Wario was outstanding in the recent WarioWare. It's probably a direction thing, he's still very capable.

Humans, like other primates, are social animals. People like talking about people and drama like a soap opera, they want to see faces and lives behind the game. With movies it's easy to see who to talk about, with videogames you don't see people, game developers come and go pretty fast. So you end up with people like John Carmack, Charles Martinet, Ted Woolsey and *shudder* youtube e-celebs thrown into the spotlight as people to look at and talk about despite having barely anything to do with the games.

Cause he's a nice fellow.
>>5087671
I mean, Charles Martinet I can understand, but Ted Woolsey, as polarizing as he is, had a direct impact on translating games from Japan. Also e-celebs have started to have a much greater impact on video games as a whole, especially some reviewers or eccentric/memorable personalities.

Bumped into him at E3 (I had a press pass for a blog I used to write for). I was in line to try out the Oculus Rift.

Ducked out, shook his hand, thanked him for the childhood memories. He was super kind, did all the voices while answering me (not in a cringe way, was really personable. We took a picture together.

10/10 dude.
