I have one now. Ive only played Snatcher on it so far.

>> No.4803856

That's right. I waited for Nintendo to make one... and then they did.

i love the megadrive, but the megacd was too little too late. a shame too, it's pretty good despite its slow loading. still not interested in ever owning one.

I play it on my pc

Call me lazy, but my main reason for not having one is that it doesn't have a SD-card option like the GDEMU, PSIO, Super SD System, etc.

why was 90's advertising so aggressive?

Honestly it was mostly just Sega, and that's Atari copying Sega's advertising style. As you see, Nintendo made others just as saddle sore back then as they do now.

No I don't, and given the prices they're going for now I probably never will. There's only like two games I'd play on it anyway.

Are they expensive? I got a genesis 2, CD 2, and 32x two years ago for about 100 bucks, which seemed fair at the time.

I haven't actually played it a lot, I want to play sonic cd with the JP soundtrack, but I haven't bothered to figure out how to use foreign BIOS on it yet.

I haven't seen one for cheaper than 50 bucks. But on the plus side, it's the only investment you need to make. Since there is zero pirating protection, the entire library is just a blank disc and CD burner away.

I genuinely hated Sega's advertising in the 90s. Almost every single commercial was just endless Nintendo bashing, or jerking off over hardware specifications instead of software. It's like all they knew how to do was insult the competition.

It was fun though. It wasn't classy, I think Nintendo had that foyer with their ads.

>I dodged the BIGGEST FUCKING BULLET by not getting one of these.

Same here. It's actually astonishing how awful Tiger was. You'd think with all the money they scammed from people from their awful LCD games they'd have enough money to make a somewhat decent handheld to rival the Game Boy. Instead we get this garbage that came out a whopping 6 years after the first Game Gear game.

Sega was always pretty stupid when it came to running a business. It's kind of amazing they managed to hold on as long as they did with all the stupid decisions they made.

Sega:Pepsi
Nintendo: Coke

>> No.4808367

>>4808340
Pepsi... willing to experiment, even if most of said experiments ends in failure. Less popular than Coke but only just.
Coke... sticks to what they know. New products are conceived less from experimentation and more of learning market trends & demands and catering to them. The juggernaut of the industry.

Yeah pretty apt analogy there.

Except that Sega remained committed to a gameplay design philosophy, while Nintendo pretty much totally switched over to progression and story based games.

>> No.4809403

So what was the context in this commercial? Was that guy someone famous? (I'm not American so I wouldn't know if it was some basketball or baseball player)

So find a way to make that fit into the soda analogy, else shut up.
