Let's celebrate the only hero in video games history: Wario.
By the way, I was replaying SML3 recently, expecting to not like it as much as I did when I played it as a kid since a lot of people say it's not that great, blah blah... what the fuck, it's still 10/10.

Played VB Wario Land for the first time recently. Great game, need to replay and get all the treasures. WL 2 and 4 are still my favorites though. Loved the branching paths in 2.

Wario Lands are so fucking good

But I gotta say, no game has such atmosphere as VBWL. When all you've got is a couple of shades of red and 100% black, you can only do so much. Still, they managed to make extremely interesting worlds, both concept-wise and visually. Top notch art direction.

Come to think of it, nonstandard settings really are a staple of the Wario series. Grassland, Desert land, water land, sky land? Fuck that, we're going to an —underground watermelon greenhouse—
