With shit ppi like that it would be ideal for displaying pixelshit fan art. If you're going to spend any kind of money on a marquee don't half ass it. Shell out for a decent LCD.

>Not expensive enough!

LoL I think 50 ppi is plenty for displaying a marquee but I tend to agree with the first Anon that both are too expensive. If I could get the LCD for the LED's price I would probably be considering it - or if the LED was like $50 I'd probably do it just for the hell of it just to make the cab brighter and more exciting. Those LED signs are VERY bright - and another factor is that the LEDs are made to sit there switched on for years straight while the backlight in the LCD will start dimming after 10,000 hours.

I agree with the other anons that it's too expensive, but it does look cool. I like the light-up buttons when the game switches.

>> No.4628245

>>4628237
I suppose it would be cool if your cab knew which buttons were active on which games and only lit up the usable ones. Not quite sure how to make MAME (or other emulators) control that though.

>arcade ports

Why not just play the original when you have a mame cabinet anyway?

There's literally not a single pre-2000 arcade port on pc that is superior to the original. most of the abandonware arcade ports weren't even made by the original companies/developers.

what are some easy arcade games to 1cc?

I don't have much besides Contra, Renegade, Fatal Fury 1, and some really old high-score like Scramble

>> No.4628501

>>4628217
If that display if 50ppi then it's too small. I'm not saying spending $1k on a marquee is a good idea or even $500. Just that if you're going to spend silly money on a silly thing you might as well do it right. Or be the kind of guy who bought a rear projection TV. Up to you.

>>4628245
You need to know what game your playing, have a database of controls for each game, and an interface to the rice lights. All easily doable.

>> No.4628524

>>4628484
AOF1 is very easy if you know the enemy patterns. Just watch a couple youtube 1cc videos to figure them out.

Shadow over Mystara is very easy with the magic user if you know a couple tricks and save the magic spells for the bosses. It's generally easy with all the other characters too. Easily the easiest Capcom beat'em up, followed by The Punisher.

Dungeon Magic is very easy with Vold. Just remember to get one of the hidden staves in the first level, literally on the 3rd/4th screen of the game. Don't use his combo. Don't use anything except charge attacks. Use jab infinites on the spider boss and lesser demon. Use charge attacks for everything else.

Golden Axe is very easy with Gillius. Abuse his back roll to stab people in the neck from a safe distance. Once you get a dragon, make sure you don't get knocked off and you should easily destroy everything.

Sunset Riders isn't too hard.

Diet Go Go is a pretty easy Bubble Bobble type game.

I'm really trying not to spiral into pointless arguments on /vr/ so I appologize in advance

>>4629759
You really are just pulling arguments out of your ass. I said marquees are 26x8 MAX, fucking MAXIMUM as in that's as big a display as you can fit into a real arcade cabinet. The 1366x294 stretched bar LCD is 150mm vertically. I don't know where you've ever seen an LCD with nonsquare pixels but if a 1366x294 display were 8 inches tall it would be over 37 inches wide. You also seem to be redefining PPI however you need to to suit your argument.
