Its on sale on the PSN for $6 (as well as Trigger). I was not able to get into this game back when my PS1 was still working (I now use my PSP as a PS1), but should I try it again?

The other problem with this game is that the PSP cannot connect to moderm wifi outlets, and the only places left that I can still connect to are a select few fast food restaurants. Moreover, game sizes that are 260 mb take about a half hour to download, and Cross is 777 mb which means I will be sitting for a hour to get the game (assuming the connection is not disrupted while downloading).

I am also contemplating getting the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger off the psn. It has a much more manageable download size (281 mb) and is among my favorite RPGs. However, I already own the game on my SNES and DS.

Should I get both, one of them, or pass on them? These games are on sale until mid- day Tuesday.

I had FF Anthology and Chronicles, and I think Origins, and I thought that version of Trigger ran just fine. Sure, why not?

I think about giving Cross a second chance from time to time, myself. I couldn't get over how randomized its narrative was. Its soundtrack remains fantastic, of course.

The ps1 version of trigger had slowdown so bad I found it literally unplayable. Ds version or rom if not the original.

You mean it has slow down aside from the load times? Where is there slow down?

I actually bought the soundtracks for both Trigger and Cross over ten years ago. I do agree with both of your comments pertaining to Cross (fantastic soundtrack, but the plot is convoluted and messy).

I have this game on my backlog as well.

I dont know much about it honestly, except that its a sort of sequel to Chrono Trigger.

What do you mean the narrative is randomized?

He misunderstood.

The lines are the same but the game has an accent generator and the character talks according tho his/her speech pattern.

The problem is there is a lot of black screen loadings on parts of the game that were instant on cartridge.

CT is either SNES or DS i highly recommend DS it has a better translation as the game is not constrained by Woolsey BS and character limitation on the JP>US conversion, and it keeps instant loadings from SNES while it has the FMVs from PS1.

Ah man why FF6 didn't got a good second port like this one...

Any other comments?

Keep in mind a factor for Cross is that it would take me a hour to download the game.

Oh no, an entire hour, woe is you
fuck off

The game is fun.

But do not expect good treatment for CT characters.

That is something that irked me a lot with Cross. It would have been much better for Cross to have been a stand alone game.

Or good treatment for any characters.

If the load times are because of the laser reading the disc why is there still loading when you emulate the games?

It's a beautiful game. Play it if only to experience the top tier art direction and music. If you end up also enjoying the story it'll be a favorite for the PS

Just install custom firmware on your PSP, download the ISO of Chrono Cross on your computer, then hook your PSP to your computer and transfer it. Simple.

Any battle that has a moving background will cause the game to slow down to 1/3rd speed. It's a shitty port.
