The golden age of arcade games is generally agreed to be the late 70s to early 80s: the era of Space Invaders, Pac Man and Donkey Kong. With that in mind, would it be fair to consider the fighting game boom of the first half of the 90s to be the silver age of arcade games?

I dunno man, the 90s was when system hardware was its strongest and 1v1 fighters took center stage. The "versus" arcade dynamic became its own thing. I consider that the "diamond" age. Look at that shit in your own image >>4241029

Nah, arcades stayed strong throughout the late 80s (brawlers), early 90s (fighters) and late 90s (racers and light gun games). It wasn't until the 2000s they started dropping in interest.

Isn't silver age just the age immediately after gold? So wouldn't silver age be late 80s?

I've seen "Silver Age of the arcades" used to describe 1991 until the crash. Not entirely uncommon terminology.

There are four, and maybe more present that aren't in shot. It was such a grand era.
