like some kind of pixelated rpg or arcade games from 1997-2004

Pick one. Although there are some RPG's here and there that don't have much dialogue.

Ys I & II, you can get the remake Ys I & II Chronicles+ on Steam for fairly cheap.
Phantasy Star II doesn't have much dialogue. It's a great game if you're up for a challenge, and have a lot of patience.
Secret of Mana doesn't have much dialogue.
Breath of Fire 1 doesn't have much.
Shining in the Darkness is a "doom" like rpg in that it's a 1st Person dungeon crawler, but with rpg battles. Not much dialogue in it.

I'd suggest the original Final Fantasy 1, but you'd probably prefer one of the remakes, most likely the GBA version in Final Fantasy: Dawn of Souls. Have remakes of I and II on it.

you bring up a good point, role playing game is a very generic term that can describe a lot. games like wizardry and other dungeon crawlers are rpgs because they heavily utilize stats. games like faxanadu are good roleplaying games without much story
