I really, really love the original game. The famicom version specifically.

Huge nostalgia boner for it. I also love pretty much every other game in the series including the SFC platformer.
I never got into Stinger much though. It was pretty ignored when it came out in the US, I think. They should have released TwinBee 1 instead.

Anyone played TwinBee 3? I think it's the most underrated game in the series.

Also, TwinBee on 3DS is pretty cool. I'm glad they went for the Famicom version and not the arcade... I always thought the Famicom ver. was better looking and sounding than arcade original. Best thing about the 3DS version is that you can adjust the rapidfire turbo, and the 3DS circle pad is really fucking good for shooters. It's a shame the 3DS was not exploited with the genre, it's far better than using the d-pad or nub of the PSP. Anyway, I recommend the 3d classic version of TwinBee on 3DS to anyone. I remember I got it for free with the bonus nintendo points that came with my 3DS.
X68K version is pretty nice too. Basically a 16-bit version of TwinBee.

Twinbee 3 was my first twinbee game, and still one of my favorites. Definitely the best of the famicom trilogy, in my opinion. I have a lot of love for pop'n twinbee though, especially that stage 4 music.

I was looking for some good shooters on 3ds so I will check it out. It's a damn shame we never got Rtype on the virtual console.

If my life had a soundtrack, the Twinbee fanfare would play whenever I roll my car out of the garage.

I have never played one of the games before, but it looks pretty colorful. I might check it out soon.

Was always my guy in the Parodius games and his games are pretty great too from what I've played. Rainbow Bell Adventures is a fun platformer.

Reminder that the NES version was used as Konami wanted to use the arcade version as bonus content for New Love Plus (M2 edited the graphics to match that of Shuzilow.HA's designs).

Don't worry about Pachinko, it already got one, same with Parodius & Gradius before Big Boss was a thing.

Is it me, or was Twinbee much more popular in Europe than in the US? It seems like Europe

Never really thought about it but you're kinda right. They got parodius, banana prince and mr gimmick while we never did. I do think some of their localizations like pic related suffered from the same tryhard EXTREEEEME feel that we had in the states though.

Silly OP, everybody loves twinbee.

They also went through the effort of reprogramming the games for 50Hz, despite the NES literally being dead in Europe.

Considering how much more relevant Twinbee was in EU, I'm honestly surprised that the EU cover of Parodius didn't have Twinbee front and center, with a giant "FEATURING TWINBEE FROM THE TWINBEE SERIES" badge.

It was probably more reasonable to convert the game's code instead of just porting them to the C64 or Amiga; at least the Euros also had the MSX, but not MSX2.

They had both.

They actually got Detana in arcade form (Bells and Whistles), so I'm not surprised more people know of twinbee in europe.
Also, Gunbee on amiga.

Man, the Euros must've been huge weebs, especially with Quik and Silva resembling a Japanese game a bit too much.

How much this resembles the SNES game is amazing. It's the /vr/ equivalent of remaking Bloodborne in UE4.

Because sometimes the developers were over eager/too passionate and programmed the games before even asking for the rights. That's the story of many unreleased Ocean France ports.
