2755858 No.2755858 [Reply] [Original]

One of my personal favorites for the Dreamcast, both on account of it being one of my first horror survival games and its distinction as a horror comedy survival.

While the game press wasn't too kind to Illbleed on account of its shoddy mechanics and awkward gameplay, the game's camp redeem its critical flaws: the dark atmosphere, identifiable characters, gritty aesthete, zany humor, subtle references to horror films, tone and plot. Even the bad voice acting is charming in its own right.

>HURRRRRRRR DEVIL INSIDE DURRRRRRRRR

I don't give a shit whether Illbleed "plagiarizes" this obscure PC game or not. I didn't care for it then, and I'm going to start caring for it now

I Loved illbleed.

It was among my favorite DC games.

-Fire Pro Wrestling D
-Shenmue 1 & 2
-some shmups like Ikaruga, Shikigami no Shiro 2
-Illbleed

etc.

Man, I fucking miss not having a DC anymore.

speaking of which.

Are there any good emulators that can run illbleed pretty well?

>> No.2755867

wait, how does this have anything in common with Devil Inside? The core gameplay element of Illbleed is the Horror Monitor for finding traps, the core element of Devil Inside is a fucking third person shooter.

what part? the weird slasher plot where Jason Voorhees owns a motel and his kid plays baseball? the murderer who owns a bullshit department store? The overlong Toy story parody with a Sanic boss fight? the ghosts of a million dead people haunting a rubber suit to murder people while someone else also pretends to be the ghost to murder people?

Here's his post (complete with misspellings):
>Illbleed was released at the end of april 2001.
>The Devil Inside, a game sharing the same concept, was released at the end of october 2000, that is 6 months before.
>lIlbleed totally ripped off The Devil Inside but nowadays all that is remembered is Illbleed.
>The reasons? Illbleed was Japanese and was made for consoles.
>That gives you an example of how 'gamers' are biaised and tend to consider 'underrated classics' games that are only on consoles and even more so if they were made by Japs.
>The Devil Inside also got much better score from both reviewers and players.
>Illbleed is not an underappreciated gem, it is a shameless ripoff of a game that got praised by critics 6 months earlier while making it much worse.

Bought illbleed dirt cheap shortly after DCs demise. I thought is was kooky and fun but the tank controls killed it for me. Could never get passed the first boss. Wish I wouldn't of sold it because I am generally interested in trying to play again.

One quick question.

Michel or Eriko?

Michel. She reminds me of a gamer goth girl I had a massive crush on in high school.

Eriko because Lani Minella has a voice like audible sex and she needs to be in more games.

Yeah pretty much. Even tho I had a DC since '99 my collection wasn't large at all until after Sega went under. Around then I was also collecting for the Saturn. Glad I was able to pick up a majority of those games b4 prices went full retarded.
